Today, it was announced that a new joint venture, Gradable, has been launched to enhance its technology platform and broaden its impact on the agricultural industry. This initiative aims to support more farmers and buyers in leveraging and benefiting from grains produced through sustainable and regenerative practices.
Gradable, which was initially introduced in 2020, provides a platform for tracking sustainable and regenerative agricultural practices and their outcomes. This technology facilitates financial rewards for farmers and offers grain buyers reliable, farm-level data to meet increasing consumer demand for sustainably produced products.
The platform is currently a major player in North America’s grain procurement sector, with over 20,000 farmers utilizing it across more than 12 million acres. Gradable has assessed over 200 million bushels of corn and soybeans, analyzed 48 million acre-years of agronomic data, and facilitated over $30 million in annual financial incentives for sustainable practices. The new 50-50 joint venture aims to further expand Gradable’s reach and capabilities, connecting with new partners and customers throughout the grain supply chain.
Steele Lorenz, the newly appointed CEO of Gradable, commented, “Gradable is quickly establishing itself as a leading technology platform for sustainability scoring on a large scale. We invite all partners from the CPG and grain buying sectors to join us as we expand into new markets and support more farmers.”
With the growing demand for sustainably produced crops driven by consumer preferences, corporate commitments, and public policy, Gradable plans to extend its reach across ADM’s extensive network of facilities in the U.S. and Canada. The expansion will include an increase in commercial partners and global service capabilities to meet the rising needs for sustainable food, feed, fuel, and industrial products.
FBN CEO Diego Casanello stated, “Partnering with a leader like ADM to launch Gradable will provide thousands of farmers with advanced sustainability solutions. By combining our expertise, Gradable will enhance insights, incentives, and support to help growers adopt regenerative practices profitably. We are confident Gradable will become the industry-leading platform.”
Greg Morris, president of ADM’s Ag Services and Oilseeds division, added, “ADM’s regenerative agriculture initiatives enrolled over 2.8 million acres last year, and we are just getting started. This joint venture will provide the robust technology platform needed for widespread farmer participation and offer valuable data for grain buyers and end customers. We anticipate Gradable’s growth will enable more farmers, commercial grain partners, and end customers to benefit from regenerative agriculture and the increasing demand for sustainably sourced products.”
