National restaurant brand Sweetgreen is set to open its first Ohio location in the Short North on September 4, offering its signature salads, plates, and bowls to the Columbus community. To mark the occasion, Sweetgreen is hosting a grand opening event with local partners and welcoming new neighbors. Columbus, known for its dynamic food scene and loyal fan base, has been eagerly awaiting Sweetgreen’s arrival. The city has been one of the top-requested locations for expansion, with local media and fans counting down to the big day.
“We are thrilled to open our flagship Ohio location in this vibrant Columbus neighborhood,” said Jonathan Neman, Co-founder and CEO of Sweetgreen. “By sourcing local ingredients from across the Midwest, we’re excited to bring our signature flavors to Columbus’ iconic food culture. We’ve been looking forward to this for a long time and are deeply grateful for the warm reception from the Columbus community.”
Sweetgreen invites the public to join the celebration, starting with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:15 a.m. and doors officially opening at 10:30. Attendees can enjoy giveaways, including mini bouquets from Rosie The Flower Truck, fresh juices from Native Cold Pressed Juices, free scoops from Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, and Sweetgreen swag (while supplies last).
The full menu, featuring salads, warm bowls, protein plates, and sides, will be available for dine-in, delivery, or carry-out. Longtime favorites like the Harvest Bowl and Crispy Rice Bowl will be on offer, alongside the new Caramelized Garlic Steak, seasoned with a garlic spice blend and finished with extra virgin olive oil and herbs. Sweetgreen’s customizable menu boasts over two billion possible flavor combinations, thanks to a wide range of fresh ingredients and signature dressings.
In keeping with its tradition of community support, Sweetgreen is partnering with Mid-Ohio Food Collective to fight food insecurity in Central Ohio. For every meal purchased on opening day, Sweetgreen will donate a meal to the Mid-Ohio Kitchen at the Reeb Center to provide nourishing food to those in need.
Located at 700 North High Street, Sweetgreen Columbus will be open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The 3,605-square-foot space, which seats up to 46 diners, features an open kitchen where guests can see their meals being prepared from scratch. Sweetgreen’s commitment to sustainability and transparency will be showcased on the restaurant’s source board, highlighting its trusted suppliers and growers from the region.
