Tractor Supply Company (NASDAQ: TSCO), the largest rural lifestyle retailer in the U.S., announced today that it has been awarded the 2024 SmartWay Excellence Award by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This award recognizes the company’s commitment to operational practices that conserve fuel, reduce costs, and minimize the environmental impact of its supply chain. The SmartWay Excellence Award is the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. EPA for demonstrating resource stewardship and shipping efficiency. Tractor Supply is among 18 companies honored this year, representing the top performers within the SmartWay program.
Roc Hodges, director of outbound transportation at Tractor Supply, stated, “Every year, Tractor Supply moves billions of pounds of product through our supply chain as we serve our customers and more than 2,200 stores. This recognition underscores our ongoing commitment to find new and efficient ways to deliver the products our customers need for Life Out Here while also reducing costs.”
In the past two years, Tractor Supply has opened new distribution centers in Navarre, Ohio, and Maumelle, Arkansas, aimed at enhancing service to its growing customer base and decreasing transit times and mileage. The company became a SmartWay partner in 2014 and has consistently achieved High Performer status since 2019, signifying its leadership in the industry. Additionally, Tractor Supply mandates that all of its contract carriers be SmartWay certified.
The SmartWay program boasts participation from over 4,000 companies, including retailers, manufacturers, distributors, cargo owners, freight shippers, for-hire and private fleets, commercial truck and rail carriers, freight brokers, third-party logistics providers, and other organizations.
