Report Orbia Publishes 2024 Annual Impact Report Highlighting Sustainability Progress
Orbia Advance Corporation, S.A.B. de C.V. (BMV: ORBIA) has released its 16th annual Impact Report, showcasing its 2024 business performance and progress toward environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives. Reflecting on the company’s growth and commitment to sustainability, Orbia CEO Sameer Bharadwaj stated, “Throughout our history, we have seized opportunities for sustainable growth and impact. Despite the challenges of the past year, we have remained steadfast in developing solutions that advance life around the world by addressing key resource issues such as food and water security, information access, connectivity, decarbonization, and energy transition.”

Sustainability-Driven Investments and Initiatives
Orbia maintained its commitment to addressing critical customer challenges through sustainable solutions, fostering profitable growth. As part of its long-term strategy, the company made significant sustainability-aligned investments, including:
- Initiating construction of a large-scale medical propellant purification plant in the U.K. to support the pharmaceutical industry’s shift toward sustainable practices.
- Expanding its custom electrolytes business to enhance the safety and efficiency of lithium-ion batteries used in consumer electronics, energy storage, and U.S. energy security applications.
Key 2024 Sustainability Achievements
Orbia’s progress in environmental, social, and governance areas in 2024 included:
- Supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with 67% of its revenues classified as SDG-aligned, up from 65% in 2023. Orbia was also invited to join the UN Global Compact Mexico Chapter Board of Directors.
- Achieving a 26% reduction in Scope 1 & 2 emissions and a 33% reduction in Scope 3 emissions, based on the 2019 baseline. This places the company ahead of its 2030 Scope 3 reduction target and on track for its Scope 1 & 2 goals.
- Increasing on-site renewable energy consumption by 16% compared to 2023.
- Expanding the number of manufacturing sites sending zero waste to landfill to 89%, up from 71% in 2023.
- Contributing over 20,000 employee volunteer hours and launching the company’s first global volunteering campaign focused on water stewardship.
- Advancing circularity and decarbonization initiatives across all business units, including:
- Expanding bio-based PVC and plasticizer offerings.
- Launching a water replenishment partnership with Microsoft.
- Introducing lower global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants and propellants.

- Expanding eco-friendly telecommunications conduit solutions.
- Investing $3.7 million in climate-focused startups working on clean energy, carbon removal, and agricultural technologies.
