The AGCO Agriculture Foundation, a private foundation focused on preventing and relieving hunger through sustainable agriculture, has donated $50,000 to the Georgia Foundation for Agriculture’s Weathered But Strong: Hurricane Relief Fund. This fund, supported by over 40 of Georgia’s leading agricultural organizations, including the Georgia Agribusiness Council and the Georgia Department of Agriculture, aims to assist farmers in recovering from the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene.
Hurricane Helene recently ravaged Georgia’s agricultural landscape, destroying crops, damaging timber, and severely impacting farm infrastructure. The resulting financial and emotional toll on farmers has prompted the creation of this relief fund, which seeks to bridge gaps not covered by insurance or other aid sources by providing direct support to those affected.
“Farmers are the backbone of our communities, and their resilience in the face of adversity is truly inspiring,” said Roger Batkin, Board Chair of the AGCO Agriculture Foundation. “Our Foundation remains committed to supporting these communities. We’re proud to contribute to this relief fund in AGCO’s home state of Georgia, helping farmers restore their operations and livelihoods after the devastation of Hurricane Helene.”
The Hurricane Relief Fund aims to raise $1 million to deliver immediate assistance to impacted farmers, with 100% of donations going directly to those in need. The fund will provide resources to help farmers recover and continue their essential work in Georgia’s agriculture.
Contributions from individuals and corporations are welcomed to help Georgia’s family farms rebuild and ensure continued food production. Donations can be made through the Georgia Foundation for Agriculture’s website.
