Butterworks Farm, a cherished gem in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, is thrilled to announce its acquisition by Anthony Calderaro, Ania Kuniej, and Joseph Calderaro. This new chapter represents a significant evolution for the farm, which has been a trailblazer in grass-fed organic dairy farming since Jack and Anne Lazor founded it in 1976. Butterworks Farm is renowned for its 100% grass-fed organic dairy products, crafted from the rich, creamy milk of its Jersey cows. The farm has built a loyal following by upholding a commitment to both high-quality products and sustainable farming practices, supported by a dedicated team and a vibrant farm ecosystem.
Founded with a vision of self-sufficiency, value-added dairy products, and land stewardship, the Lazors, alongside their daughter Christine Lazor and her husband Collin Mahoney, established Butterworks Farm as Vermont’s first organic yogurt producer. Over 48 years, they expanded the farm into a licensed dairy operation with a processing plant, 76 Jersey cows, and 400 acres of pastures and hayfields. The farm’s cows, raised from birth on-site, have always contributed to the farm’s high-quality milk and healthy herd.
The Calderaro family is dedicated to maintaining the farm’s legacy of excellence and sustainability. With a deep passion for organic farming, they are committed to continuing the traditions set by the Lazors. “We are thrilled to become the new stewards of this 100% grass-fed organic dairy farm and to uphold the cherished tradition started by Jack and Anne Lazor. We share their passion and vision for harmony among people, animals, and nature,” said the new owners.
In addition to preserving the farm’s esteemed heritage, the Calderaro family plans to expand Butterworks Farm’s reach, aiming to bring their healthy, grass-fed organic products to new and existing markets.
Butterworks Farm eagerly anticipates this exciting new era under the Calderaro family’s ownership and remains committed to delivering exceptional dairy products to its valued customers.
