Cargill’s RegenConnect® program has achieved a significant milestone, enrolling over one million acres for the 2025 U.S. planting season. This achievement underscores Cargill’s dedication to supporting farmers in the transition to regenerative agriculture, aiming to create a more sustainable and food-secure world. Since its inception in 2021, RegenConnect has equipped farmers across the U.S. with resources, guidance, and incentives to adopt regenerative practices such as low till, no-till, and cover cropping, which improve soil health, boost water retention, sequester carbon, and enhance biodiversity.
Nearly 1,500 farmers enrolled in the program benefit from personalized agronomist support, one-year contracts, compensation for carbon sequestered, and flexibility to choose the practices best suited to their operations. This adaptable approach has attracted many repeat participants, with over 40% of returning farmers adding more acres for 2025, illustrating the program’s impact on fostering resilience in agricultural practices.
“This milestone represents more than a number; it marks the increasing adoption of regenerative practices that improve soil health and farm resiliency,” said Brooke Hokana Hansen, Sustainability Director for Cargill’s North American Agriculture & Trading business.
Cargill’s 2024 Impact Report further highlights RegenConnect’s expansion globally, with initiatives in Canada, Australia, Brazil, and Europe. Currently operating in 24 U.S. states, RegenConnect supports regenerative agriculture in over 15 countries, offering tailored solutions like agroforestry, cattle grazing management, and farmer training. These regional programs provide farmers with tools and expertise suited to local conditions.
“Every farm has its own unique challenges, and successful adoption relies on localized support,” added Hansen. “Collaboration among farmers, policymakers, and food companies is essential to fully realize the benefits of regenerative agriculture and build a more resilient global food system.”
RegenConnect not only brings farm-level advantages but also helps Cargill’s downstream partners reduce the environmental footprint of their supply chains, contributing to a sustainable future.
