To celebrate National Vegetarian Month this October, Kellanova Away From Home has teamed up with Chef Mitchell Aboujamra, the culinary mastermind behind Evette’s Chicago, to introduce MorningStar Farms® plant-based products to the restaurant for the very first time.
Chef Aboujamra, a first-generation Lebanese American known for blending the flavors of Lebanon and Mexico in his unique dishes, has created a new menu item called “Angry Chik’n.” This special dish features MorningStar Farms® Chik’n Tenders, making it the first plant-based protein offering at Evette’s and available throughout October.
The limited-time “Angry Chik’n” dish presents juicy Chik’n Tenders coated in smoky harissa mayo, served on a bed of crispy sumac fries. It delivers a flavorful combination of savory, spicy, and tangy tastes, topped with harissa mayo, Aleppo chili flakes, and fresh parsley for a refreshing contrast.
“Creating new dishes like the Angry Chik’n and sharing them with our guests is always exciting,” said Chef Aboujamra. “Partnering with a trusted brand like MorningStar Farms® makes it even better. Their delicious plant-based protein lets me add my own creative touch, while giving people more options for plant-based eating.”
MorningStar Farms® is a leader in the plant-based space, continuing to satisfy both chefs and diners with flavorful plant-forward options. Research shows that restaurants offering plant-based proteins experience higher ratings and customer return rates, highlighting the growing demand for plant-forward dining.
“Chef Aboujamra’s innovative approach and diverse culinary expertise make him a perfect partner to demonstrate how easy it is to incorporate MorningStar Farms® products into restaurant menus,” said Jessica Waller, General Manager at Kellanova Away From Home. “We’re excited to bring globally inspired, plant-based dishes to today’s diners, creating unique culinary experiences.”
In addition to the “Angry Chik’n,” MorningStar Farms® Chik’n Tenders will also be available as a protein add-on for wraps, tacos, salads, and more at Evette’s.
Chef Mitchell Aboujamra, originally from Flint, MI, grew up surrounded by Lebanese, Mexican, and Midwestern food traditions, influenced by his family’s grocery store, butcher shop, and farm. After attending the Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago, he opened Evette’s in 2020, blending Lebanese and Mexican cuisines with Midwestern flair. Chef Aboujamra also owns the gourmet sandwich shop All Too Well, with locations in Lincoln Park and Chicago’s Loop, and plans to expand to Los Angeles in 2025.
MorningStar Farms® offers a variety of plant-based products available nationwide, making it easy for foodservice operators to meet the increasing demand for plant-based dining options.
