NBA All-Star and Golden State Warriors forward Jimmy Butler is bringing more than basketball talent to the Bay Area—he’s bringing his bold and beloved BIGFACE Coffee brand to San Francisco for a limited-time engagement in collaboration with Square. From July 10 through July 27, BIGFACE will operate an exclusive pop-up café at Square’s Corner Store, located in the heart of the Mission District. This event marks Butler’s first local entrepreneurial venture since joining the Warriors and blends his love for specialty coffee with a deepening connection to his new community.
BIGFACE, which began as an inventive coffee hustle during the 2020 NBA bubble, has since grown into a high-profile, premium coffee and lifestyle brand. Butler’s vision—originally sparked by a lack of quality coffee options while quarantined with teammates—has evolved into a movement. What started as a pop-up in a hotel room has matured into a fully operational brand with a flagship café in Miami, a growing fanbase of coffee lovers, and now, a pop-up presence in the Bay Area.
The two-week San Francisco pop-up is more than just a place to grab a quality cup of coffee. It’s a cultural experience—one that integrates coffee, creativity, community, and commerce. The location at 1100 Valencia Street pays tribute to the spirit of the Mission District while also nodding to its past as the former home of the iconic Lucca Ravioli Company. This site now serves as a new home for BIGFACE’s West Coast debut, powered entirely by Square’s modern commerce solutions.
“San Francisco’s legendary coffee scene and vibrant, diverse neighborhoods make it a perfect place to bring BIGFACE,” said Jimmy Butler. “I’ve always believed coffee brings people together, no matter their background. It’s a shared experience. Partnering with Square and bringing BIGFACE to the Mission allows me to connect with the Bay in a meaningful way and give something special back to a community that’s welcomed me.”
Visitors to the pop-up can expect a thoughtfully curated menu of BIGFACE specialty drinks. Offerings include espresso-based beverages, pour-over coffee, and cold brew, each of which can be customized with BIGFACE’s popular flavor infusions—vanilla, salted caramel, and strawberry among them. In addition to fresh beverages, the café will feature bottled and canned ReadyBev drinks, as well as BIGFACE-branded juices for those looking for a refreshing alternative.
The pop-up will also introduce San Francisco-exclusive BIGFACE merchandise, including apparel and coffee gear designed specifically for the location. These items celebrate the unique culture of the Mission and will be available only during the pop-up event. Adding to the perks, customers who use a Cash App Card for purchases will receive a 15% discount, offering another incentive to experience the brand.
Butler’s connection with Square dates back to the launch of the BIGFACE flagship store in Miami, which opened in 2024. There, Square’s hardware and software ecosystem enables smooth operations and elevated customer experience. The store is equipped with Square Register, Square Terminal, and the recently launched Square Handheld, providing a seamless point-of-sale experience. A cutting-edge Modbar espresso system, grab-and-go ReadyBev station, and exclusive product displays create an immersive space for both casual visitors and devoted fans of the brand.

“Our work with Jimmy and BIGFACE is the perfect example of how Square empowers passionate entrepreneurs to turn vision into reality,” said Lindsey Irvine, Head of Marketing at Square. “Local businesses form the backbone of our communities. At Square, we’re committed to giving creators, dreamers, and doers the tools they need to build lasting connections with customers. The BIGFACE pop-up at the Corner Store is an exciting new chapter in that mission.”

This latest pop-up continues Square’s broader vision for its Corner Store initiative, which launched in 2023 as a community-first retail space designed to spotlight local entrepreneurs, foster creative collaborations, and host dynamic cultural programming. The Corner Store has already welcomed over 2,000 locals and small business owners, hosting everything from skill-building workshops and panel discussions to networking events and pop-up retail experiences.
In June, the store featured a range of events celebrating small business resilience, offering entrepreneurs resources, peer connections, and hands-on learning opportunities. The success of those activations set the stage for this new partnership with BIGFACE—one that promises to draw both coffee aficionados and new fans into the fold.
Looking ahead, Square will continue to prioritize local impact. After the BIGFACE residency concludes, Square plans to collaborate with SF New Deal, a respected local nonprofit organization, to place another local business in residence through the remainder of 2025. SF New Deal is focused on helping under-resourced small businesses thrive by providing direct support, opportunities for visibility, and access to essential tools. The organization has played a key role in uplifting San Francisco neighborhoods by pairing economic empowerment with inclusive community development.
This partnership ensures that Square’s Corner Store remains not just a retail outlet, but a platform for storytelling, innovation, and grassroots business growth. By passing the baton from BIGFACE to a local operator, Square and SF New Deal aim to keep the energy alive and the mission clear: championing entrepreneurship, one coffee cup—or one idea—at a time.
As Butler begins his new chapter in San Francisco, his BIGFACE pop-up is more than just a business move. It’s a bold, aromatic introduction to what he hopes will be a long-lasting relationship with the Bay Area—not only on the court, but also in the community.
