DoorDash, Waymo Launch Autonomous Delivery with DashPass Promo

DoorDash and Waymo Partner to Launch Autonomous Delivery Service and DashPass Promotion

DoorDash, Inc. (Nasdaq: DASH) has announced a strategic partnership with Waymo to introduce an autonomous delivery service in Metro Phoenix, along with a limited-time promotion offering DashPass members $10 off Waymo rides in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Phoenix. This collaboration reflects DoorDash’s ongoing commitment to innovation in last-mile delivery and enhancing the convenience and value for its customers.

Starting immediately and running through the end of the year, DashPass members in these three cities can take advantage of a $10 discount on one Waymo ride per month.* To participate, members will receive a new promotion code at the start of each month, valid through December 31, 2025. This initiative is designed to bring a unique, technology-driven experience to everyday transportation while rewarding loyal DashPass subscribers.

In Metro Phoenix, testing of the autonomous delivery service is already underway. DoorDash plans to expand commercial operations more broadly later this year. Through this service, consumers in the area may be matched with a fully autonomous Waymo vehicle for deliveries from participating merchants. This is made possible by DoorDash’s Autonomous Delivery Platform, a system designed to integrate multiple delivery methods—including human Dashers, robots, drones, and autonomous vehicles—at scale.

Initially, the service will focus on deliveries from DashMart, DoorDash’s owned and operated convenience, grocery, and retail store. DashMart also supports DashMart Fulfillment Services, providing a foundation for DoorDash to scale autonomous delivery efficiently. Over time, DoorDash intends to expand the offering to more merchants, increasing access to fast and contactless delivery options for local communities.

“DashPass is designed to give consumers consistent value, convenience, and access to the best of their communities, and our partnership with Waymo builds on that promise,” said David Richter, Vice President of Business and Corporate Development at DoorDash. “Together, we’re giving members access to, and savings on, a new and delightful experience, while advancing our vision for a multi-modal autonomous future of local commerce.”

Nicole Gavel, Head of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships at Waymo, highlighted the benefits of integrating autonomous technology with DoorDash’s platform: “We are excited to make everyday errands easier with the Waymo Driver, offering the added peace of mind that comes with our safe and reliable technology. Through our partnership with DoorDash, we leverage our proven delivery experience to provide customers with a seamless, contact-free way to get items they need, whether it’s groceries or a quick bite.”

The partnership underscores the growing role of autonomous vehicles in transforming local commerce. By combining DoorDash’s expansive delivery network and technology platform with Waymo’s expertise in self-driving vehicles, the companies aim to create a more efficient, safe, and scalable delivery model. Consumers benefit from reduced delivery times, increased reliability, and the convenience of a contactless experience.

DashPass members gain additional advantages beyond the autonomous delivery promotion. The subscription program offers exclusive deals, member-only benefits, and $0 delivery fees with reduced service fees on eligible orders from thousands of restaurants, grocery stores, and retailers. Since its launch in 2018, DashPass has provided substantial savings to members, averaging $5 per eligible order and generating more than $10 billion in collective savings globally.

As DoorDash and Waymo expand this collaboration, the companies envision a future where autonomous vehicles play a central role in everyday commerce, supporting local businesses and providing innovative solutions for consumers. By merging convenience, technology, and value, this partnership represents a step forward in the evolution of delivery services and the broader adoption of autonomous solutions in urban environments.

With the initial launch in Metro Phoenix and the DashPass promotion across three major cities, DoorDash and Waymo are setting the stage for a transformative approach to local delivery, combining advanced technology with customer-centric experiences. The program highlights how partnerships between tech innovators and delivery platforms can drive meaningful change in the way people shop, commute, and engage with their communities.
