Fertilizer Market Uncertainty Drives Pivot Bio to Expand Farmer Support Ahead of 2027

Pivot Bio, a leading agricultural technology company focused on biological crop nutrition, has announced a series of new products, innovations and farmer-focused commitments designed to support growers during the 2027 growing season. The company is expanding its crop nutrition portfolio for corn, cotton and sorghum while continuing to invest in solutions intended to provide farmers with greater fertilizer flexibility, improved predictability and stronger value from their nitrogen management programs.

The announcements were made by Chris Abbott, chief executive officer of Pivot Bio, during the 2026 Farm Progress Show. The event marked another stop on the company’s Year of One Million Thanks Buddy Seat Tour, a year-long initiative focused on connecting directly with American farmers and bringing their perspectives into discussions about the future of agriculture.

Over recent weeks, Abbott has traveled alongside farmers, policymakers, business executives and agricultural industry leaders to discuss the economic and operational challenges facing growers. The tractor used for the tour has traveled more than 3,000 miles, visiting communities and agricultural events in states including Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Georgia and Wisconsin. The journey has included stops at the Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa State Fairs.

The conversations have provided Pivot Bio with direct insight into the priorities of farmers as they prepare for another growing season.

“Farmers are making some of their most important decisions in an environment shaped by tighter economics, volatile fertilizer markets and increasingly complex crop nutrition choices,” Abbott said. “Our job is to keep advancing the technology while also finding practical ways to give farmers more control over the things we can help influence, from how nitrogen performs in the field to how they plan across seasons and generations.”

Next Generation of Crop Nutrition

A central component of Pivot Bio’s 2027 product portfolio is Pivot Bio PROVEN® G3+, the company’s next-generation microbial nitrogen technology for corn. Pending applicable state registrations, the product is expected to become commercially available for the 2027 growing season.

PROVEN G3+ builds on the company’s PROVEN G3 platform, which provides nitrogen directly at the crop root. The new generation adds early-season crop nutrition capabilities intended to support root development, improve access to nutrients and help increase yield potential.

The technology combines Pivot Bio’s seed fluency and micronutrient platform, NUCORE+™, with PROVEN G3. NUCORE+ is designed to establish a stronger nutritional foundation during the early stages of crop development, while PROVEN G3 continues to provide nitrogen at the root as crop demand increases throughout the season.

By bringing these capabilities together, Pivot Bio aims to create a more comprehensive crop nutrition approach that can complement a farmer’s broader fertility program. The company says the system is designed to improve nutrient-use efficiency while helping growers capture greater performance from their available crop inputs.

PROVEN G3+ is planned for multiple application methods, including on-seed, liquid in-furrow and dry application systems. This flexibility is intended to make it easier for farmers to incorporate the technology into existing planting and fertility practices.

Building Greater Fertilizer Predictability

Pivot Bio’s 2027 plans extend beyond product innovation. The company has also focused on helping growers manage fertilizer-market uncertainty and plan their nitrogen programs with greater confidence.

Earlier in 2026, Pivot Bio introduced a multiyear nitrogen price and supply assurance program. Participating growers and retailers can lock in consistent pricing for Pivot Bio nitrogen solutions across three growing seasons.

The program is designed to address a major challenge facing farmers: uncertainty surrounding fertilizer prices and supply. As growers make decisions for the 2027 season, greater visibility into nitrogen costs and availability can help them build more predictable budgets and reduce exposure to sudden market changes.

Pivot Bio’s strategy is supported by increased U.S. production and a domestic supply chain. According to the company, these investments are intended to provide greater certainty around product availability while helping growers manage fertilizer costs and operational risk over multiple seasons.

The company is also continuing to refine its Best Management Practices for integrating biological nitrogen into crop fertility programs. Its current recommendations position Pivot Bio products as a foundational nitrogen source within a broader fertility plan, with the potential to replace preplant or less-efficient nitrogen while maintaining in-season applications.

Farmers can review field performance information and results from Pivot Bio products through the company’s PivotsProvenIt.com platform.

“We aren’t developing technology simply for the sake of innovation. Our products have been proven across thousands of trials with farmers and universities to solve real on-farm challenges,” Abbott said. “That means delivering nitrogen reliably, making the technology easy to incorporate into existing practices and continuing to improve the economics for growers.”

Supporting the Next Generation of Farm Families

Pivot Bio’s commitment to farmers also includes investments beyond crop nutrition.

At the 2026 Farm Progress Show, the company announced a multimillion-dollar commitment through Pivot Pathways: A Generation Grant, an initiative intended to support farm families and the next generation of American agriculture.

Beginning with the 2027 growing season, eligible farmer customers will have the opportunity to receive annual Generation Grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 per farm family. The grants can be used to support a child, grandchild or another individual connected to the future of the farm, including through investment opportunities such as a Trump Account.

The initiative reflects Pivot Bio’s broader view that the long-term strength of American agriculture depends not only on productive farms but also on resilient farm families and rural communities.

The grants are intended to help families invest in the future of the next generation, whether that means returning to the farm, pursuing an agricultural career or choosing an entirely different professional path.

Listening Directly to Farmers

The Year of One Million Thanks Buddy Seat Tour represents another part of Pivot Bio’s farmer-support strategy. Launched in July 2026, the year-long initiative is designed to give farmers a direct platform to share their experiences, concerns and priorities.

Traveling aboard a working family tractor, the tour is bringing growers together with representatives from business, government, academia and the broader agricultural sector. The initiative also aims to highlight organizations working to strengthen farm families, agricultural education and rural communities.

As the tour continues, Pivot Bio is making targeted investments in organizations focused on farmer support, agricultural education and the long-term vitality of rural America.

“I’ve spent a lot of this year sitting beside farmers and asking them what they need from companies like ours,” Abbott said. “They need us listening, solving real problems and delivering technology that makes their businesses stronger.”

With the 2027 growing season approaching, Pivot Bio is positioning its strategy around three core priorities: advancing crop nutrition technology, increasing certainty for fertilizer planning and supporting the families and communities that underpin American agriculture.

The company’s expanded portfolio, including the planned introduction of PROVEN G3+, represents its continued focus on biological nitrogen and crop nutrition innovation. At the same time, its multiyear pricing and supply initiative seeks to give growers greater predictability in an increasingly volatile fertilizer environment.

Through Pivot Pathways and its ongoing farmer engagement efforts, the company is also extending its focus beyond individual crop seasons toward the long-term sustainability of farming families and rural communities.

As farmers prepare for another growing season, Pivot Bio says its 2027 initiatives are ultimately designed around practical outcomes: helping growers manage nitrogen more effectively, providing greater control over input planning and investing in the people who will shape the future of agriculture.
