General Mills Reaffirms Full-Year Guidance in Business Update at 2026 Barclays Global Consumer Staples Conference

General Mills Reaffirms Fiscal 2027 Outlook as Company Focuses on Brand Strength, Innovation and Profitable Growth

General Mills (NYSE: GIS) is maintaining its financial outlook for fiscal 2027 as the company works to build on the progress made during the previous year and strengthen the performance of its portfolio of food brands.

The company provided the update in conjunction with its participation in the 2026 Barclays Global Consumer Staples Conference, where General Mills leadership outlined its priorities for the year ahead and reiterated its expectations for sales, operating profit, earnings and cash flow.

General Mills Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Jeff Harmening said the company entered fiscal 2027 with a focus on accelerating momentum and making its brands more distinctive and relevant to consumers.

“After strengthening our foundation last year, our goal in fiscal 2027 is to accelerate our momentum by helping our brands stand out even more with consumers,” Harmening said. He added that the company is encouraged by early market indicators, including improving retail sales trends and favorable consumer reactions to recent innovation initiatives.

Although General Mills recognizes that additional work remains, management believes the company is moving in the right direction and has a strategy designed to generate more consistent and profitable growth over the long term.

General Mills Maintains Fiscal 2027 Financial Targets

General Mills reaffirmed its previously issued financial expectations for fiscal 2027. The company expects organic net sales to range from a decline of 1.5% to an increase of 0.5%.

The outlook reflects an operating environment in which consumer demand, retail trends and broader market conditions remain important factors for food manufacturers and consumer packaged goods companies. General Mills is working to improve the performance of its brands while continuing to manage costs and invest in areas expected to support future growth.

Adjusted operating profit is expected to decline between 13% and 8% in constant currency. General Mills noted that the comparison is affected by several factors, including the impact of cycling the 53rd week included in fiscal 2026.

The company expects the lapping of that additional fiscal week to create a nine-percentage-point headwind in the fiscal 2027 operating profit comparison. In addition, the outlook incorporates the normalization of corporate incentive expenses and the impact of divestitures completed during fiscal 2026.

For adjusted diluted earnings, General Mills continues to expect fiscal 2027 results to fall between $3.00 and $3.20 per share.

The company is also targeting free cash flow conversion of approximately 95% of adjusted after-tax earnings. The target reflects General Mills’ continued emphasis on generating strong cash flow while investing in its brands and executing its broader business strategy.

General Mills noted that its financial targets are provided on a non-GAAP basis because certain information required to calculate comparable GAAP measures is not currently available.

Accelerate Strategy Remains Central to Growth Plans

At the heart of General Mills’ fiscal 2027 priorities is its Accelerate strategy, which is designed to strengthen the company’s brands and create sustainable, profitable organic sales growth.

The strategy calls for investments across multiple areas of the consumer experience. General Mills is focusing on its product portfolio, packaging, brand communication, omnichannel execution and consumer value as it seeks to make its brands more compelling in an increasingly competitive marketplace.

The company believes that stronger brands can create a foundation for more sustainable growth. By improving the overall experience consumers have with its products, General Mills aims to increase brand relevance, strengthen consumer engagement and ultimately improve long-term financial performance.

The approach also recognizes that consumer expectations continue to evolve. Food shoppers are increasingly influenced by product innovation, convenience, value, packaging, marketing and the ability to discover products across multiple channels. General Mills is therefore seeking to ensure that its brands remain competitive across both traditional retail and digital shopping environments.

Innovation and Consumer Response Provide Encouragement

General Mills said it is seeing early signs that its efforts are beginning to gain traction. Improving retail sales trends and positive consumer responses to innovation are among the indicators giving management greater confidence in its plans for fiscal 2027.

Innovation remains an important component of the company’s strategy because new products and product improvements can help brands maintain relevance, attract new consumers and create additional purchasing occasions.

The company’s focus extends beyond simply introducing new products. General Mills is looking at the broader consumer experience, including how products are packaged, marketed, positioned and made available to shoppers.

This comprehensive approach is reflected in the company’s Remarkable Experience Framework, which brings together multiple aspects of brand development and execution.

General Mills believes that coordinating these efforts can make its brands more distinctive and strengthen their ability to compete in a challenging consumer environment.

Focus on Sustainable Long-Term Value Creation

While fiscal 2027 includes several financial headwinds, General Mills is positioning its investments around a longer-term objective: generating stronger and more sustainable growth while creating value for shareholders.

The company’s leadership emphasized that the business still has important work ahead. Nevertheless, management remains confident in the underlying direction of the company and its ability to execute its strategy.

The emphasis on profitable organic sales growth also demonstrates General Mills’ focus on improving the quality and sustainability of its growth rather than pursuing sales expansion at any cost.

By investing in brands while maintaining attention to profitability and cash generation, the company expects to build a stronger foundation for future performance.

Leadership Participation at Barclays Conference

As part of its participation in the 2026 Barclays Global Consumer Staples Conference, General Mills executives took part in discussions focused on the company’s business outlook and strategic priorities.

Harmening, chairman and chief executive officer, and Dana McNabb, chief operating officer, were scheduled to participate in a webcasted fireside chat on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 3 p.m. ET.

The discussion provided an opportunity for investors and industry observers to hear directly from General Mills leadership about the company’s fiscal 2027 priorities, operating environment, brand investments and expectations for future performance.

The company’s reaffirmation of its guidance indicates that management continues to stand behind the financial framework previously established for fiscal 2027 despite the various year-over-year comparison factors affecting the results.

Next Financial Update Coming in September

Investors will have another opportunity to assess General Mills’ progress when the company reports its fiscal 2027 first-quarter results.

General Mills plans to release its fiscal 2027 first-quarter financial results on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. The company will also host a webcasted question-and-answer session concerning the results at 8 a.m. CT that same day.

The upcoming quarterly report will provide additional insight into the company’s progress against its full-year targets, including organic sales trends, operating performance, earnings and cash generation.

For now, General Mills is maintaining its fiscal 2027 outlook and emphasizing brand investment, innovation and execution as key drivers of its strategy. With early signs of improving retail sales and positive consumer reactions to innovation, the company believes it has established a stronger platform from which to pursue profitable growth.

As General Mills moves through fiscal 2027, the effectiveness of its brand investments, the performance of its innovation pipeline and its ability to navigate consumer value expectations will remain important factors in determining whether the company can translate its strategy into sustained financial improvement.
