Informatica, a leader in enterprise AI-driven cloud data management, has announced a new partnership with HowGood, an independent research organization that maintains the world’s largest database on food product sustainability. This collaboration, revealed during Climate Week NYC—a global event focused on sustainability and climate action—aims to help companies and food suppliers make informed sustainability decisions and enhance their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance.
As consumer demand for ethical and sustainable products grows and regulatory bodies impose stricter sustainability reporting requirements, the food industry faces increasing pressure to gain deeper insights into the environmental and ethical impacts of their decisions. Through this partnership, Informatica’s AI-powered Intelligent Data Management Cloud™ (IDMC) for ESG Sustainability, enriched with HowGood’s extensive data, will empower food suppliers to conduct in-depth analyses and report on the environmental effects of their ingredients and products, covering the entire supply chain from farm to fork.
HowGood boasts the world’s largest food product sustainability database, with over 90,000 agricultural emission factors. Their detailed impact assessments cover key areas such as greenhouse gas emissions, water consumption, biodiversity, labor risk, and land use. Combining Informatica’s platform with HowGood’s 17 years of industry research will significantly enhance decision-making for major food manufacturers, retailers, and ingredient suppliers worldwide.
“Comprehensive sustainability data is crucial for the food industry to reach its net-zero targets,” said Michael Streitberger, Head of Partnerships at HowGood. “Partnering with Informatica allows us to bring our in-depth ingredient and product data to decision-makers, driving strategy and facilitating more efficient decarbonization across the industry.”
“We’re thrilled to integrate HowGood’s sustainability data into our platform, further reinforcing our commitment to environmental responsibility,” said Manouj Tahiliani, Senior Vice President and General Manager of MDM & 360 Applications at Informatica. “This partnership enables food manufacturers, retailers, and brands to make informed, sustainable choices by analyzing the impact of every ingredient, down to something as specific as a single grain of rice from a particular region.”
The integration between Informatica’s MDM platform and HowGood’s sustainability data is now available, offering users seamless access to these insights within their product management workflows and procurement processes.
