Lineage Logistics, the world’s largest global temperature-controlled warehouse REIT, has unveiled Feeding the Future, a report by Economist Impact. Backed by Lineage, the research explores how food infrastructure influences economic development in remote regions and emphasizes the need for global collaboration to enhance the food supply chain to feed the growing global population effectively.
Although enough food is produced daily to nourish the world’s 8 billion people, disparities remain stark: 733 million people face hunger, 3.1 billion cannot afford a nutritious diet, and 24% of calories produced are wasted due to food loss. Bridging these gaps will require resilient infrastructure—from advanced warehousing and cold storage facilities to efficient transportation networks—spanning the global food supply chain.
