Nestlé Invests CHF 310 Million in Brazil to Expand Nutrition and Health Business
Nestlé plans to invest CHF 310 million in Brazil’s nutrition and health business by 2028 as the company expands production capacity and responds to growing demand for nutrition products. The investment will include the construction of a new manufacturing facility in Ituiutaba, Minas Gerais, along with upgrades to existing operations.
Around CHF 94 million will be allocated to the new Ituiutaba facility, which will focus on producing infant formula for the Brazilian market as well as potential export opportunities. The plant is expected to begin operations in the second quarter of 2028 and will create approximately 100 new jobs.
The investment program will also support improvements at Nestlé’s nutrition and health factory in Araçatuba. The site serves as a major production hub for infant, medical and adult nutrition products in Brazil. In addition, Nestlé plans to expand the production of key ingredients, including increasing whey production by 15% by 2029 to support rising demand for infant nutrition products.
“Nutrition is one of Nestlé’s key categories globally and today, accounts for around 20% of Group sales,” said Jeff Hamilton, CEO of Nestlé Zone Americas. He added that Brazil represents a strategic market for the company’s nutrition business and that the investment will strengthen local manufacturing capabilities while improving access to high-quality, science-based nutrition products.

The new Ituiutaba plant will be Nestlé’s second factory dedicated to infant nutrition in Brazil. It will incorporate advanced digital systems and automation technologies designed to improve operational efficiency, product quality and food safety.
Nestlé’s investment reflects the company’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence in the nutrition and health category while increasing local production. Brazil is one of Nestlé’s important markets globally, and expanding manufacturing capabilities is expected to help the company respond more effectively to changing consumer needs.
Beyond increasing production, the investment is also expected to contribute to economic development in the region through job creation and increased industrial activity. The use of modern manufacturing technologies at the new facility could further support Nestlé’s focus on efficient and high-quality production.
By expanding its facilities and increasing ingredient production, Nestlé aims to build a stronger supply network for nutrition products in Brazil. The company expects the investment to support continued growth in infant, medical and adult nutrition while creating additional opportunities to serve both domestic and international markets.
