Renewal of Dr. Calvin King’s Role on the Affordable Housing Advisory Council at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) is delighted to announce the reappointment of Dr. Calvin King to the FHLB Dallas Affordable Housing Advisory Council (Advisory Council). Dr. King brings a wealth of community development experience spanning decades to the Advisory Council.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the cause, Dr. King stated, “Working toward affordable, sustainable housing is extremely important to me, and I am excited about our efforts to make homeownership a reality for more Americans.”

As the founder, president, and CEO of the Arkansas Land and Farm Development Corporation in Brinkley, Arkansas, Dr. King leads a nonprofit dedicated to collaborating with African American farmers. Their focus includes introducing alternative crops to enhance economic sustainability for minority farmers and spearheading affordable housing developments in low-income rural communities across 42 counties.

Dr. King, recognized as a MacArthur Fellow, has garnered numerous state and national accolades for his impactful work with African American farmers and other small landowners facing resource constraints.

“We are thrilled to see the reappointment of Dr. King,” remarked Greg Hettrick, senior vice president and director of Community Investment for FHLB Dallas. “Dr. King has been a valuable resource for the council.”

Dr. King commenced his three-year term on January 1, 2024.

The Advisory Council comprises 13 representatives from state, community, and nonprofit organizations within FHLB Dallas’ five-state District. These members, appointed by the FHLB Dallas Board of Directors, play a pivotal role in advising the Board on matters pertaining to affordable housing and economic development.
