Sodexo and Adani Collaborate on an Innovative Skill Development Initiative

Aligning with a shared commitment to corporate responsibility, Sodexo and Adani have embarked on a joint endeavor for sustainable development, focusing on a hunger-free world and youth skill enhancement. The collaboration aims to provide training and placement opportunities for young individuals in remote areas, with the inaugural pilot project launched in Mundra and Bhuj, benefiting over 150 youths.

Sodexo, leveraging its expertise, will spearhead the training initiative, overseeing course module development, coaching, on-the-job training, and certification. Concurrently, the Adani Skill Development Centre will handle youth recruitment and offer infrastructure support. The comprehensive eight-week program is tailored for profiles in Food & Beverage, Cleaning Services, and General Duty Assistance, addressing the industry’s significant demand and shortage of skilled labor. Candidates will undergo training on NSDC NSQF level 3 and above, coupled with Sodexo modules. The program includes a crucial four-week on-the-job training phase, placing youths at existing Sodexo or other sites, ensuring their readiness for employment. Recruitment assurance extends to Sodexo sites nationwide or other relevant industry players.

Focusing on inclusive growth, the organizations aspire to bridge industry skill gaps and establish sustainable livelihoods. The pilot’s success will pave the way for scaling the initiative nationally, targeting the recruitment of 7,000 youths, with a 25% representation of women in annual frontline hiring. Sambit Sahu emphasized the plan’s initiation, starting with a train-the-trainer approach to cover 166 candidates. For Adani, the initiative aligns with its youth skilling objectives, while Sodexo views it as an opportunity to enrich its talent pipeline.

A shared commitment to talent development, gap bridging, and positive social impact underscores this transformative initiative. The partners foresee a positive transformation in the participating youth and intend to extend similar initiatives to more tier II and tier III cities and remote locations, aiming to upskill over 500 youths by 2024, as stated by Amitkumar Thakker.

Originating in 2008, the Adani-Sodexo partnership has evolved, employing over 3,200 professionals across 64 Adani offices. Their collaborative efforts extend to various community development initiatives, such as women empowerment, hunger eradication, and skill development. This latest initiative reinforces their enduring partnership and commitment to the economic, social, and environmental development of the communities they serve.
