Sweetgreen Launches in Charlotte, Marking Its North Carolina Debut

Today, Sweetgreen, the mission-driven restaurant brand focused on connecting people to real food, announced the opening of its first North Carolina location in Uptown Charlotte at One Independence Center. The new 2,479-square-foot restaurant represents a key moment in the brand’s ongoing national expansion.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the warm welcome and excitement around Sweetgreen’s arrival in North Carolina,” said Jonathan Neman, Sweetgreen’s Co-founder and CEO. “As we grow across the Carolinas, we look forward to partnering with local suppliers in the Southeast to serve fresh, delicious meals to the community.”

Since its inception, Sweetgreen has remained committed to its mission of providing high-quality, sustainable ingredients and fresh produce. The menu includes popular items such as the Harvest Bowl and Crispy Rice Bowl, alongside protein-rich options like Miso Glazed Salmon and Steakhouse Chopped.

Sweetgreen’s debut in North Carolina coincides with the launch of new fall menu items, featuring air-fried Maple Glazed Brussels Sprouts. The seasonal dishes include the Autumn Harvest Bowl, Maple Glazed Brussels + Chicken protein plate, and the Maple Glazed Brussels + Sweet Potatoes side. These meals incorporate locally-sourced ingredients, such as goat cheese from Goat Lady Dairy and sweet potatoes from Randall Watkins of Watkins Farms.

“We’re thrilled to collaborate with Sweetgreen and introduce our farm-fresh goat cheese to their fans,” said Carrie Bradds, Owner of Goat Lady Dairy. “At Goat Lady Dairy, we share Sweetgreen’s passion for using high-quality ingredients that both taste great and look amazing. We’re excited for the Charlotte community to enjoy the combination of our creamy goat cheese with Sweetgreen’s signature dishes.”

In line with its community focus, Sweetgreen has partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina for the Charlotte opening. For every meal purchased on opening day, Sweetgreen will donate a meal to the Food Bank, which supports over 950 agencies across North and South Carolina to help those experiencing food insecurity.

To celebrate its North Carolina debut, Sweetgreen is hosting a launch event on Monday, September 30. The community is invited to enjoy giveaways, including customized trucker hats from Girl Tribe Co., a limited-edition ice cream flavor from Golden Cow Creamery, and coffee mugs from Sweetgreen. The event will take place from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM, while supplies last.

The Uptown Charlotte location, at 101 North Tryon Street, Suite 101, will seat 42 guests inside and 26 on the patio. Customers can order online at order.sweetgreen.com or through the Sweetgreen app. The restaurant will be open Monday-Saturday from 10:30 AM to 10:00 PM, and Sunday from 10:30 AM to 8:00 PM.
