US Foods Holding Corp. (NYSE: USFD), a leading foodservice distributor in the United States, sadly announced today the unexpected passing of its Board Chair, Robert “Bob” Dutkowsky, at his Florida residence. He was 69. Dave Flitman, Chief Executive Officer, expressed deep sorrow, highlighting Dutkowsky’s invaluable leadership, mentorship, and strategic contributions to the company. Dutkowsky, who joined the US Foods Board in January 2017 and served as Board Chair since February 2022, leaves behind a profound legacy.
Prior to his tenure at US Foods, Dutkowsky held notable leadership positions, including Executive Chairman of Tech Data Corporation and CEO of Egenera, Inc. and J.D. Edwards & Co., Inc. He commenced his career at IBM and held executive roles at EMC Corporation, showcasing a wealth of industry experience. Dutkowsky’s dedication extended beyond US Foods, as he served on numerous public company boards.
Dutkowsky is survived by his wife Lorraine, daughter Jen, son Kevin, daughter-in-law Julie, and grandchildren Davis and Emma.
In light of Dutkowsky’s passing, the US Foods Board has appointed David Tehle as the new Board Chair. Tehle, a director since July 2016, brings a wealth of experience, having served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Dollar General Corporation. His expertise in financial management and governance, demonstrated through roles at Haggar Corporation and Ryder System, Inc., underscores his suitability for this role. Tehle holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan.
