McCormick & Company, Incorporated (NYSE: MKC), a global leader in flavor, has announced the appointment of Valarie Sheppard to its Board of Directors, effective June 1, 2024. Ms. Sheppard, a retired Executive Vice President, Controller, and Treasurer of Procter & Gamble (P&G), brings over 35 years of extensive experience in finance and accounting.
Ms. Sheppard’s distinguished career at P&G includes expertise in capital deployment, asset management, business process reengineering, acquisitions and divestitures, external financial reporting and controls, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Before her retirement in 2021, she led P&G’s global finance, accounting, and treasury operations across more than 65 countries. Her senior roles included finance and accounting positions in the Fabric Care, Home Care, and Beauty divisions, along with assignments in Europe and Asia. Notably, she played a key role in the financial integration of Gillette, P&G’s largest acquisition.
In addition to her tenure at P&G, Ms. Sheppard brings audit and public accounting experience from her roles as Senior Vice President, Comptroller, and Treasurer, frequently interacting with P&G’s Audit Committee. She has also served on public company boards for Sovos Brands, Innovation International Acquisition Corporation, and Anixter International, contributing to various Audit, Compensation, and Governance & Nominating committees. Currently, she serves on the board of Ibotta.

Ms. Sheppard’s appointment reflects the board’s ongoing commitment to refreshment, ensuring a relevant mix of skills and experiences that align with McCormick’s strategy and promote effective governance. The board continues to add experienced leaders with diverse backgrounds and perspectives. With this appointment, McCormick’s Board of Directors will consist of 13 members, 11 of whom are independent.
Ms. Sheppard holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master’s in Science in Industrial Administration from Purdue University.
