Valmont Posts Strong Second Quarter 2026 Results, Raises Full-Year Outlook
Valmont Industries, Inc. (NYSE: VMI), a global provider of infrastructure and agricultural productivity solutions, delivered a strong financial performance in the second quarter of 2026, fueled by robust demand across its infrastructure businesses and continued operational discipline. The company also raised its full-year 2026 financial guidance, reflecting confidence in its strategic direction and the resilience of its core markets.
For the quarter ended June 27, 2026, Valmont reported higher revenue, significantly improved profitability, healthy cash generation, and continued shareholder returns through share repurchases and dividends. While the agriculture segment continued to face challenging market conditions, the company maintained solid margins through pricing initiatives, cost management, and investments in technology and aftermarket services.
Infrastructure Business Continues to Drive Growth
Valmont’s Infrastructure segment remained the company’s strongest performer during the quarter, benefiting from sustained investment in utility, transportation, lighting, telecommunications, and protective coatings markets.
Company President and Chief Executive Officer Avner M. Applbaum said the results demonstrate the successful execution of Valmont’s long-term strategy and highlight the strength of its market-leading businesses.
According to Applbaum, the North American Utility and Coatings businesses delivered another quarter of strong operational performance through commercial excellence, disciplined pricing, and strategic investments in manufacturing capacity and operations. These initiatives have strengthened Valmont’s competitive position while preparing the company to capitalize on future infrastructure opportunities.
He emphasized that the company intends to continue enhancing operational efficiency while expanding its ability to meet growing customer demand across critical infrastructure markets.
Agriculture Business Navigates Market Challenges
Although agricultural markets remain under pressure, Valmont continued executing its strategy with a focus on operational excellence and long-term customer value.
Management noted that weaker farm equipment demand and global geopolitical challenges continued to impact irrigation equipment sales, particularly in international markets. Nevertheless, pricing discipline, cost controls, and investments in precision agriculture technologies helped offset some of these headwinds.
The company continues investing in advanced irrigation solutions, digital technologies, and aftermarket services designed to improve grower productivity while strengthening customer relationships.
Applbaum stated that these investments position the Agriculture segment for accelerated growth once market conditions improve.
Investor Day Reinforces Long-Term Strategy
During the second quarter, Valmont also hosted its Investor Day, where executives presented the company’s roadmap for sustainable long-term growth.
The strategy focuses on:
- Profitable organic growth
- Margin expansion
- Disciplined capital allocation
- Higher returns on invested capital
- Continued operational excellence
Management said the second-quarter performance reinforces confidence in achieving these long-term objectives while creating additional value for shareholders.

Revenue Climbs Above $1.1 Billion
Valmont generated second-quarter net sales of $1.12 billion, representing a 6.5% increase from $1.05 billion reported during the same period last year.
The growth was primarily driven by exceptional performance in North American infrastructure markets, where strong customer demand, favorable pricing, and higher shipment volumes more than compensated for softer agricultural sales.
Profitability Improves Significantly
The company posted substantial gains in operating profitability during the quarter.
Operating income increased to $166.1 million, representing 14.8% of net sales, compared with $29.3 million, or 2.8% of net sales, during the second quarter of 2025.
Excluding prior-year impairment and restructuring-related charges, adjusted operating income in the comparable period was $141.4 million, or 13.5% of sales, highlighting meaningful year-over-year operational improvement.
Diluted earnings per share reached $6.14, a sharp improvement from a diluted loss of $1.53 per share reported a year earlier. On an adjusted basis, diluted earnings per share improved from $4.88 in the prior-year quarter.
The dramatic increase reflects stronger operational execution, improved pricing, higher infrastructure sales volumes, and the absence of significant impairment charges recorded during the previous year.
Strong Cash Generation Supports Capital Allocation
Valmont continued generating strong cash flows during the quarter.
Operating cash flow totaled $148.1 million, providing ample liquidity to support strategic investments, shareholder returns, and balance sheet strength.
The company ended the quarter with:
- Cash and cash equivalents totaling $139.1 million
- Net leverage ratio of approximately 1.0 times
The healthy balance sheet provides financial flexibility as Valmont continues investing in capacity expansion and long-term growth initiatives.
Returning Capital to Shareholders
Valmont maintained its commitment to returning capital to shareholders during the second quarter.
The company returned a total of $74.9 million, consisting of:
- $60 million through common share repurchases
- $14.9 million in dividend payments
These capital allocation activities demonstrate management’s confidence in the company’s financial position and future cash-generating capabilities.
Continued Investment in Manufacturing Capacity
Capital expenditures totaled $35.9 million during the quarter.
Most of the investment supported manufacturing capacity expansion for the North American Utility product line, where demand remains particularly strong.
Management indicated that these investments are intended to improve operational efficiency while positioning the business to serve increasing infrastructure demand over the coming years.
Infrastructure Segment Delivers Outstanding Performance
Infrastructure accounted for approximately 78.4% of Valmont’s total second-quarter revenue.
Segment sales increased 14.8% to $878.9 million, compared with $765.5 million during the same quarter in 2025.
Several businesses contributed to the strong performance.
North America Utility achieved sales growth of 33.9%, driven by favorable pricing and higher shipment volumes as utility customers continued investing in electric transmission and distribution infrastructure.
North America Coatings also delivered impressive results, with sales rising 16.6%, supported by increased customer demand and improved pricing.
International Infrastructure sales also increased, benefiting primarily from favorable foreign currency movements.
These gains were partially offset by softer performance within North America Telecommunications, where moderating carrier capital spending resulted in lower shipment volumes.
Infrastructure operating income rose to $154.4 million, or 17.6% of sales, compared with $25.9 million, or 3.4% of sales, during the prior-year quarter.
Excluding last year’s impairment and restructuring charges, adjusted operating income improved from $124.6 million, or 16.3% of sales.
The improvement reflected stronger pricing, increased production volumes, and continued operational efficiencies, although partially offset by higher raw material costs, particularly steel and other input materials.
Agriculture Segment Faces Difficult Conditions
Agriculture represented approximately 21.6% of company revenue during the quarter.
Segment sales declined 15.8% to $243.7 million, compared with $289.4 million in the second quarter of 2025.
North American irrigation sales decreased 2.3% as farmers remained cautious amid ongoing softness in agricultural markets. However, favorable pricing helped offset part of the decline.
International agriculture sales fell 28.9%, largely due to disruptions associated with the continuing conflict in the Middle East, which affected customer demand and regional business activity.
Despite lower revenue, profitability remained resilient.
Agriculture operating income increased to $39.9 million, representing 16.5% of sales, compared with $36.1 million, or 12.5% of sales, during the prior year.
Compared with adjusted results from 2025, lower shipment volumes reduced earnings, but these pressures were partially offset through disciplined pricing strategies and lower operating costs.
Management noted that continued investments in precision agriculture technologies, digital irrigation solutions, and aftermarket products remain central to the segment’s long-term growth strategy.
