Farnam Marks 80 Years of Horse Care with New Innovations and Launch of Horse Care Grant Sweepstakes

Farnam, one of the most recognized and trusted names in equine care and a part of Central Garden & Pet, is celebrating a major milestone in 2026—its 80th anniversary. Marking eight decades of service to horse owners and equestrian communities, the company is commemorating the occasion by reinforcing its long-standing commitment to horse health and wellness through continued innovation, trusted product solutions, and a new initiative designed to directly support horse owners: the Horse Care Grant Sweepstakes.

For generations, Farnam has been a household name in barns and stables across the United States. Since its founding in 1946, the company has built a legacy around helping horse owners provide better care for their animals, offering practical, science-backed solutions for everyday equine needs. From fly control and nutritional supplements to grooming products, leather care, dewormers, and rodent control, Farnam has consistently developed products aimed at making horse care simpler, safer, and more effective.

As the company reaches this landmark anniversary, Farnam is reflecting on its history while also looking toward the future. The brand’s leadership says this milestone is not just about celebrating longevity—it is about reaffirming a promise to continue supporting horse owners with innovative solutions that address the evolving needs of the equine industry.

A Legacy Built on Trust and Reliability

Over the last eight decades, Farnam has earned the trust of horse owners ranging from recreational riders and backyard barn owners to professional trainers and competitive equestrians. Many of the company’s products have become staples in barns nationwide, passed down through generations as horse owners recommend them to children, grandchildren, and fellow riders.

That multi-generational trust has been one of Farnam’s greatest strengths. In an industry where reliability matters deeply—especially when it comes to animal health—horse owners have long depended on the brand for dependable solutions.

The company’s extensive product portfolio addresses nearly every stage of horse care, including insect control during warm-weather months, daily nutritional support, coat and hoof maintenance, parasite management, and stable hygiene. These products have played an essential role in helping horse owners maintain healthier, happier horses.

Modernizing a Legacy Brand

While honoring its heritage remains central to Farnam’s identity, the company has also been actively modernizing its brand and product portfolio.

In 2025, Farnam introduced a comprehensive brand refresh designed to better connect with a new generation of horse owners while preserving the values that made the company a trusted name for decades. The refresh included updated branding, enhanced packaging, and a renewed focus on communicating the science and innovation behind its products.

The goal was simple: remain relevant to today’s equestrian consumers without losing the authenticity and trust built over 80 years.

Today’s horse owners are increasingly informed and selective, often seeking products that combine proven effectiveness with scientific credibility and ease of use. Farnam’s modernization strategy reflects these changing expectations, positioning the company to continue serving both longtime loyal customers and younger riders entering the equine community.

Innovation at the Forefront: Launch of Endure® Gold

A key part of Farnam’s anniversary celebration is its continued investment in product innovation.

One of the company’s most notable recent launches is Endure® Gold Killer Fly & Mosquito Control, which Farnam describes as one of its most significant advancements in fly control technology in recent years.

Fly management remains one of the most persistent challenges facing horse owners, particularly during warmer months when insect populations peak. Flies and mosquitoes are more than a nuisance—they can contribute to stress, skin irritation, and even the spread of disease among horses.

To address these concerns, Farnam developed Endure® Gold with a new approach to insect control. The product features two active ingredients never previously used in equine fly sprays and introduces a new mode of action intended to improve effectiveness.

According to the company, this innovative formula provides advanced protection against flies and mosquitoes, helping horse owners better manage seasonal insect pressure while improving comfort and health outcomes for their animals.

The launch reflects Farnam’s broader strategy of leveraging science-driven innovation to solve practical horse care challenges.

Giving Back Through the Horse Care Grant Sweepstakes

Beyond product development, Farnam is also using its 80th anniversary to give back directly to the equestrian community.

As part of the celebration, the company has launched the Horse Care Grant Sweepstakes, running from May 1 through July 31, 2026.

The sweepstakes was created to help horse owners offset some of the significant financial demands associated with equine care. Maintaining a horse often involves substantial recurring expenses, from veterinary bills and farrier visits to feed, boarding, tack, and training costs.

Recognizing these ongoing financial responsibilities, Farnam designed the grant program to provide meaningful support.

A total of 16 winners will be selected after the sweepstakes concludes.

The prize structure includes:

  • One Grand Prize Winner receiving a $5,000 Horse Care Grant Reimbursement
  • Five First Prize Winners each receiving $1,000 Horse Care Grant Reimbursements
  • Ten Second Prize Winners receiving Farnam product care bundles valued at approximately $150 each

Eligible grant reimbursements can be applied toward a wide range of horse-related expenses incurred during 2026, including:

  • Veterinary services
  • Farrier appointments
  • Feed and hay purchases
  • Boarding expenses
  • Tack and equipment
  • Training fees
  • Other approved horse care costs

Winners are expected to be selected on or around August 7, 2026, with notifications scheduled to be completed by September 4, 2026.

The initiative demonstrates Farnam’s desire to support horse owners not only through products, but also through tangible financial assistance.

Leadership Reflects on 80 Years

According to Kevin Tompkins, Vice President and General Manager of Equine at Central Garden & Pet, the anniversary represents both a celebration and a responsibility.

Tompkins emphasized that Farnam’s success has always been rooted in the trust of horse owners who have relied on the company’s products year after year and decade after decade.

He noted that as the equine industry continues to evolve, so do the expectations and needs of horse owners. Farnam’s mission, he said, is to evolve alongside them—continuing to innovate while remaining grounded in the reliability and trust that have defined the brand since 1946.

Whether through breakthrough products like Endure® Gold or community-focused programs like the Horse Care Grant Sweepstakes, Farnam’s focus remains on making horse care easier and more effective for owners everywhere.
