Lifoam Industries, LLC (Lifoam), a subsidiary of LifeMade Products LLC, proudly announces its receipt of the 2024 US Plastics Pact Sustainable Packaging Innovation Award in the Compostability category. This recognition highlights Lifoam’s dedication to advancing packaging solutions and environmental stewardship.
Lifoam’s groundbreaking Bioffex® technology has earned top honors in the Compostability category at the GreenBiz Circularity Conference 2024 in Chicago, IL. This innovative technology marks a significant shift from traditional foams by utilizing a PLA-based bead foam, eliminating reliance on petroleum-based feedstocks commonly associated with EPS (expanded polystyrene).
Key Differentiators:
- 100% Bio-based Composition: Bioffex® technology is composed of materials verified through ASTM D6866-20 Method B and has been accepted by the USDA’s BioPreferred® program, making it a fully bio-based alternative.
- Environmental Benefits: Molding with Bioffex® technology is less water and greenhouse gas-intensive compared to EPS. Products made with Bioffex® technology can be commercially composted (ASTM D6400-19) in under four weeks, outperforming EPS in landfill scenarios with a better carbon profile.
