Petsense by Tractor Supply is teaming up with animal shelters nationwide for its semiannual “Adoptathon” event on Saturday, October 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at all Petsense by Tractor Supply stores across the country. After finding homes for 1,142 pets during last spring’s event, the company aims to help 1,200 dogs and cats find loving families this fall.
“Our Adoptathons are a fantastic way to engage with our communities and make a real difference for shelter animals in need of permanent homes,” said Matthew Rubin, divisional president of Petsense by Tractor Supply. “We are committed to supporting the communities where we live and work, and helping these pets find loving homes is one of the most rewarding aspects of our work.”
According to the ASPCA, around 6.3 million animals enter U.S. shelters annually, with many waiting months for adoption. In the first half of 2024 alone, Shelter Animals Count reported that 3,118,000 dogs and cats entered shelters nationwide. Events like the Adoptathon aim to reduce shelter time, increase adoption rates, and improve the overall well-being of shelter pets.
Attendees of the Adoptathon can look forward to:
- Local animal shelters and rescue groups on-site with dogs and cats available for adoption.
- Additional adoptable small and specialty animals at select locations.
- Special perks for adopters, including a goody bag with giveaways and coupons for pet supplies, services, and food.
Petsense by Tractor Supply partners with local shelters year-round to re-home thousands of cats through its in-store SavAPet centers, having saved over 186,788 pet lives through adoption efforts to date. Those interested in adopting a pet can visit their local Petsense by Tractor Supply store or go to www.Petsense.com for more information. Adoption events may vary by location, so it’s recommended to contact the nearest store for specific details.
