Ahold Delhaize Names Claude Sarrailh as CEO Nominee for Europe & Indonesia

Ahold Delhaize has announced the nomination of Claude Sarrailh to join its Management Board, effective from September 1, 2024, as Executive Vice President. Pending shareholder approval, Sarrailh will assume the role of CEO for Ahold Delhaize Europe & Indonesia starting October 1, 2024.

Claude Sarrailh joins Ahold Delhaize from Metro AG, where he has served as Chief Customer and Merchandise Officer and a member of the Management Board since 2022. With extensive experience spanning over a decade at Carrefour followed by leadership roles at Metro, including as CEO of Metro China, Sarrailh brings a wealth of international expertise in retail and strategic management to his new role. He holds a Master of Finance degree from the Ecole Supérieur de Gestion in Paris and is a French national.

Peter Agnefjäll, Chair of the Supervisory Board at Ahold Delhaize, expressed enthusiasm about Sarrailh’s appointment, citing his diverse market experience and commitment to fostering inclusive and results-oriented cultures within organizations.

In response to his nomination, Claude Sarrailh conveyed his excitement about joining Ahold Delhaize, highlighting the company’s dedication to customer satisfaction and community engagement. Frans Muller, CEO of Ahold Delhaize, praised Sarrailh’s background and international acumen, affirming that his leadership style and expertise align well with the company’s vision for growth and innovation.

Sarrailh’s nomination will be presented to shareholders for approval at an upcoming Extraordinary General Meeting. Concurrently, Wouter Kolk, the current CEO of Ahold Delhaize Europe & Indonesia, will step down from the Management Board effective October 1, 2024.
