DoorDash Broadens Food Accessibility for SNAP Recipients Through Expanded Grocery Partnerships

Millions of consumers seek affordable ways to enjoy their favorite meals daily. DoorDash, the local commerce platform, is proud to announce the expansion of its SNAP/EBT payment offering, partnering with additional grocers to increase access to fresh food. Since its introduction in 2023, over 1.1 million consumers have added their SNAP/EBT cards to DoorDash. Now, consumers can order SNAP-eligible groceries from over a dozen new grocers nationwide, totaling over 6,000 locations.

ACME Markets, Food City, Hy-Vee, Jewel-Osco, Kings Food Markets, Pavilions, Randalls, Shaw’s, Sprouts Farmers Market, Star Market, Stater Bros. Markets, Tom Thumb, and Vons are among the new partners, providing eligible consumers with a wide range of choices to utilize their SNAP/EBT benefits for online grocery orders. These options include locally-sourced produce, premium meats, fresh seafood, imported cheeses, international products, organic foods, bulk items, and more, all at affordable prices. DoorDash stands as one of the largest online marketplaces offering SNAP/EBT recipients access to grocery delivery nationwide.

This initiative aims to expand food access for over 11 million people in food deserts and over 30 million individuals residing in communities where over 1 in 10 households receive SNAP/EBT benefits, according to DoorDash data. Since its launch, DoorDash has observed:

  • Over 1 in 6 SNAP deliveries serving consumers in food deserts.
  • 49% of SNAP deliveries reaching consumers in low-income communities.
  • 28% of SNAP deliveries serving consumers in areas with higher senior populations than the national average.
  • 47% of SNAP deliveries aiding consumers in areas with higher rates of people with disabilities than the national average.

DoorDash’s commitment aligns with its mission to bolster local economies. As part of the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health, DoorDash provides on-demand delivery of SNAP-eligible groceries to people across all 50 states and DC. Project DASH further supports this mission by empowering social impact organizations to utilize DoorDash technology for local deliveries, facilitating over 5 million deliveries of an estimated 80 million meals since 2018.

To provide additional savings, DoorDash extends its offer of two free months of DashPass to new customers who upload their SNAP/EBT card*. DashPass membership grants access to thousands of restaurants, grocery stores, and convenience stores with $0 delivery fees and reduced service fees on eligible orders, saving members an average of $5 per order.

Whether delivering SNAP-eligible groceries or supporting communities facing food insecurity, DoorDash remains committed to expanding food access for all. In addition to SNAP benefits, DoorDash offers various cost-effective options to help consumers save on their orders.
