Since 2018, DoorDash’s Project DASH has facilitated over 6 million deliveries, providing more than 100 million meals to food banks, pantries, and social impact organizations. In 2023, as part of its ongoing effort to increase food accessibility, DoorDash has committed over $1 million to support its partners in combating food insecurity.
During Hunger Action Month, DoorDash announced the distribution of more than 70 additional Project DASH Impact Grants, totaling over $300,000. These grants will aid organizations in overcoming barriers to accessing food and essential goods through local delivery services, helping to connect communities with vital resources.
Addressing Medical and Dietary Needs
Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana, supported by DoorDash, is focusing on the health needs of its community by delivering nutritious food directly to homes. Through personalized food assistance programs, they plan to support around 1,000 people, catering to specific dietary requirements.
Supporting New Mothers and Infant Health
Produce Perks Midwest will use its Project DASH Impact Grant to pilot a home delivery program, addressing the nutritional needs of new mothers and their infants. In collaboration with Dayton Children’s Hospital, the program will provide bi-monthly deliveries of produce boxes to households, aiming to promote positive health outcomes in the first 1,000 days of a child’s life.
Providing Holiday Assistance
In partnership with DoorDash, Bread for the City will expand its Holiday Helpings program, delivering meal kits—including turkey or chicken and holiday groceries—to clients who are immunocompromised, immobile, or unable to visit in-person pantries. With 30 years of experience, Bread for the City hopes this expansion will help them reach even more families during the holiday season.
Project DASH’s Broad Impact
Since its launch, Project DASH has worked with hundreds of organizations across the U.S. and Canada, delivering meals and essential goods to communities in need. Key achievements include:
- Over 65 million meals delivered to areas with higher-than-average SNAP participation
- Over 13 million meals delivered to food deserts and 16 million to rural areas
- Over 35 million meals delivered to areas with a higher senior population
- Over 50 million meals delivered to areas with a higher rate of people with disabilities
In celebration of reaching 100 million meals delivered, DoorDash donated over $400,000 to organizations such as Meals on Wheels America, United Way Worldwide, and Feeding America. Additionally, more than $500,000 in Project DASH Impact Grants were distributed, and select partners received Trailblazer Grants for serving large numbers of households through Project DASH.
A report released by the Urban Institute in 2023, Connecting People with Charitable Food through New Home Delivery Partnerships, found that Project DASH has helped organizations overcome logistical challenges, reduce stigma, increase convenience, and reach underserved populations.

As Project DASH continues to grow, new partnerships are forming, further expanding the delivery of food and essential items to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.
