Continuing its commitment to flood relief efforts, Nestlé Malaysia has strengthened its ongoing partnership with the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) to provide essential support to communities affected by the monsoon season. The latest initiative aims to deliver crucial aid to flood-stricken areas, reflecting a shared mission of helping vulnerable communities navigate these challenging times.
Mobilizing Aid for Flood Victims
This phase of the flood relief campaign saw dedicated volunteers from Nestlé Cares and the MRC join forces to pack 5,000 boxes of food essentials for distribution to Temporary Relocation Centres (PPS) in the East Coast region and other affected areas. Each carefully assembled box includes a variety of Nestlé’s signature products, such as:
- MILO
- MAGGI
- NESCAFÉ
- NESTUM
- NESTLÉ GOLD Cornflakes
- EVERYDAY Milk
- NESTLÉ OMEGA PLUS
These items provide much-needed sustenance and nutritional support for families displaced by the floods.
A RM2 Million Contribution to Relief Efforts
The food aid initiative represents a significant contribution of RM2 million in products and financial resources, forming part of Nestlé Malaysia’s RM4 million commitment to MRC in 2024. These funds are allocated toward emergency response, flood preparedness, and recovery efforts to mitigate the devastating impacts of the monsoon season.
Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Juan Aranols, Chief Executive Officer of Nestlé Malaysia, highlighted the company’s enduring commitment to the nation:
“For 112 years, Nestlé Malaysia has been deeply rooted in the community, and we continue to support fellow Malaysians, particularly in times of need. The monsoon season brings immense challenges to many, especially in the East Coast region. Through our collaboration with MRC, we can deliver timely aid to ensure flood victims have access to nourishing meals during these difficult times. My deepest gratitude goes to our volunteers who worked tirelessly to pack the 5,000 food aid boxes, which will soon be on their way to affected areas under MRC’s expert coordination.”
Recognizing Strong Partnerships
Yang Teramat Mulia Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz binti Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, Chairperson of MRC, commended Nestlé Malaysia’s unwavering support:
“Nestlé Malaysia’s consistent involvement in flood relief efforts has been a lifeline, enabling us to extend our reach and provide timely assistance to those affected by the floods. These contributions not only bring immediate relief but also help restore hope for families in distress. Strong partnerships like ours with Nestlé are essential to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those impacted.”
A Commitment Rooted in Purpose
Nestlé Malaysia’s flood relief initiative exemplifies the company’s broader commitment to uplifting Malaysians, especially during times of crisis. This effort is a reflection of the company’s values and aligns with its global purpose of unlocking the power of food to enhance the quality of life, both now and for future generations.
Beyond emergency relief, Nestlé Malaysia continues to champion sustainability and social responsibility through a range of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives. These programs reinforce the company’s mission to be a force for good in the communities it serves.
The Power of Unity in Overcoming Challenges
The flood relief campaign is a testament to the impact of collaboration in addressing national challenges. By working together, Nestlé Malaysia and MRC have been able to make a tangible difference in the lives of flood victims, demonstrating the strength and resilience that can be achieved through unity.
As the aid boxes make their way to affected areas, Nestlé Malaysia and MRC reaffirm their shared commitment to supporting Malaysians in need. Through efforts like these, the organizations aim to not only provide immediate relief but also instill hope and strength in communities as they recover and rebuild.
