AGCO Names Kyle Hildebrand 2025 North American Technician of the Year

AGCO Corporation (NYSE: AGCO) has named Kyle Hildebrand, a service technician with Ag West Ltd. in Neepawa, Manitoba, Canada, as its 2025 Technician of the Year. Hildebrand received the prestigious recognition on July 30 at the Fendt Lodge™ in Jackson, Minnesota, following a demanding three-day competition that brought together six of the company’s top dealer technicians from across the United States and Canada.

Now in its fourth year, AGCO’s Technician of the Year program highlights the essential role skilled service professionals play in the agricultural equipment industry. The annual award recognizes technicians who combine advanced technical knowledge and diagnostic expertise with a strong commitment to customer service, continuous professional development and equipment uptime.

For farmers, reliable machinery is critical during time-sensitive operations such as planting, spraying and harvesting. When equipment experiences a problem in the field, a highly trained technician can make the difference between a short service interruption and a significant operational delay. AGCO designed its Technician of the Year program to recognize professionals who consistently demonstrate the skills and dedication required to keep agricultural operations moving.

Hildebrand earned the 2025 title after competing against five other finalists nominated by AGCO dealerships throughout North America. In addition to the Technician of the Year distinction, he received a $5,000 grand prize.

The competition was designed around realistic service situations that technicians encounter while supporting farmers and agricultural businesses. Over three days, participants were challenged to demonstrate their ability to diagnose equipment problems, apply technical knowledge, think critically under pressure and communicate effectively with customers.

Six hands-on scenarios formed the core of this year’s competition. Each scenario evaluated different aspects of the technicians’ diagnostic and customer service capabilities. The exercises required competitors to identify problems, determine appropriate solutions and demonstrate the practical skills necessary to return equipment to productive operation.

This year’s competition placed a particular emphasis on the Fendt™ Rogator™ sprayer, giving finalists an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of one of AGCO’s advanced agricultural machines. AGCO said future Technician of the Year competitions will expand their focus to other brands and equipment within the company’s portfolio.

“Agricultural technicians are the backbone of our dealer network and serve as the critical link in keeping farmers’ equipment up and running during vital field operations,” said Ash Alt, Manager, Aftersales Technical Training at AGCO. According to Alt, Hildebrand represents the highest standards of AGCO service by combining strong technical expertise with a commitment to helping farmers succeed.

The recognition also reflects AGCO’s broader Farmer-First strategy, which places a strong emphasis on providing farmers with dependable products, services and support throughout the equipment lifecycle. Skilled dealer technicians are an important part of that strategy because they work directly with customers when equipment requires maintenance, troubleshooting or repair.

For Hildebrand, the award represents both a personal achievement and recognition of the work performed by technicians and dealer teams every day.

“Receiving this award is a huge honor, because this competition was definitely not easy,” Hildebrand said. He added that working on Rogator sprayers and other AGCO equipment, while helping local growers navigate critical seeding, spraying and harvest periods, is what he enjoys most about his profession. He also credited his colleagues at Ag West Ltd. for supporting his training and professional development.

The five remaining finalists were recognized as runners-up in the 2025 competition. They included Eldon Kalinocha of Full Line Ag Sales Ltd. in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; Justin Bohl of Butler Machinery in Chadron, Nebraska; Malcolm Klassen of LMS Ag Equipment in Stanley, Manitoba; Josh Kirsch of Ag Revolution (Ag Rev) in Vincennes, Indiana; and AJ Odquist of Plevna Implement in Kokomo, Indiana.

Their participation underscores the depth of technical talent within AGCO’s North American dealer network. The finalists represented dealerships serving agricultural customers across multiple regions and demonstrated the increasingly specialized knowledge required to support modern farm machinery.

Today’s agricultural equipment incorporates sophisticated mechanical systems, electronics, hydraulics, software and precision-agriculture technologies. As equipment becomes more advanced, technicians must continually update their knowledge and diagnostic abilities. AGCO works with its dealers and educational institutions to help identify talented individuals and provide opportunities for technical training and career development.

The company supports several initiatives designed to strengthen the agricultural service technician pipeline. Among them is the Technician of the Year program, which provides an opportunity to showcase the capabilities of experienced dealer technicians while encouraging others to pursue excellence in agricultural equipment service.

AGCO also operates the AGCO NexTECH vocational college program, which is designed to help prepare students for careers servicing agricultural equipment. In addition, the company supports the AGCO Service Technician A.A.S. associate degree program at Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois. These initiatives are intended to give aspiring technicians access to technical education and practical skills that can help them transition into the agricultural equipment workforce.

The company’s dealer technicians support equipment across AGCO’s portfolio, including machines from its Fendt and Massey Ferguson™ brands, as well as technology solutions from PTx™. Their responsibilities extend beyond repairing machinery, with technicians increasingly serving as technical advisers who help customers understand equipment systems, diagnose performance issues and maintain productivity.

The 2025 Technician of the Year competition therefore represents more than an individual award. It highlights the importance of professional development and specialized technical expertise to the broader agricultural industry. As farms increasingly depend on sophisticated machinery and technology, qualified service professionals will remain essential to maintaining equipment availability and maximizing productivity.

By recognizing Hildebrand and the other finalists, AGCO is placing greater visibility on a career that is vital to modern agriculture but often operates behind the scenes. The company’s continued investment in technician competitions, vocational training and educational partnerships demonstrates its commitment to developing the skilled workforce needed to support farmers and dealers in the years ahead.

Hildebrand’s 2025 recognition ultimately reflects the combination of technical ability, hands-on experience, customer dedication and continuous learning that AGCO considers essential to outstanding agricultural equipment service. His achievement also reinforces the important role dealer technicians play in helping farmers keep their operations running efficiently during the industry’s most critical seasons.
