Ice Cream Betty Crocker Celebrates 105 Years with a Month-Long Museum of Ice Cream Celebration

Betty Crocker is celebrating 105 years of helping families create memorable birthday moments with a celebration designed to bring two beloved desserts together: cake and ice cream. To mark the milestone, the iconic baking brand is partnering with MUSEUM OF ICE CREAM for a month-long birthday experience featuring exclusive treats, immersive installations, special events and interactive activities for fans across the United States.

The collaboration gives Betty Crocker a playful way to celebrate more than a century of baking while introducing consumers to new experiences that extend beyond the traditional kitchen. Throughout the celebration, visitors to MUSEUM OF ICE CREAM locations will be able to enjoy a limited-edition ice cream flavor inspired by one of Betty Crocker’s classic cake combinations.

“Birthdays have always been an important part of Betty Crocker, so celebrating 105 years gives us a unique opportunity to create a birthday experience worthy of the occasion,” said Luke Niethammer, Business Unit Director for Betty Crocker at General Mills. “We see consumers reaching for Betty Crocker when we lean into shareable moments and relevant collaborations. Partnering with MUSEUM OF ICE CREAM for Betty’s birthday in a fun, unexpected way gives fans something new to enjoy.”

Betty Crocker Birthday Takes Over MUSEUM OF ICE CREAM

As part of the month-long celebration, MUSEUM OF ICE CREAM locations in Las Vegas, New York City, Miami, Boston and Chicago will serve Betty’s Birthday Cake Ice Cream. The exclusive flavor takes inspiration from the familiar combination of Betty Crocker Yellow Cake Mix and Chocolate Frosting, bringing those flavors into a creamy frozen dessert.

The ice cream features pieces of soft yellow cake combined with fudge swirls, creating a nostalgic dessert experience designed to recall the taste of a classic birthday cake. By pairing the flavor with the colorful, interactive environment of MUSEUM OF ICE CREAM, the collaboration aims to turn a traditional birthday treat into an immersive experience.

The partnership will also bring Betty Crocker-inspired elements into select museum spaces. Visitors can discover photo opportunities, themed displays and playful installations that combine the visual identity of Betty Crocker with MUSEUM OF ICE CREAM’s signature approach to interactive entertainment.

Experiences will vary by location. In Boston and Miami, visitors can find new Cake Box TV channels inside the Living Rooms. Chicago, Las Vegas and New York will feature life-size cake photo opportunities, while visitors to the New York City Sundae Kitchen can encounter Betty Crocker utensils and themed props. Las Vegas will also offer cake-inspired dress-up moments, adding another layer of participation to the birthday festivities.

Limited-Time Birthday Experiences

MUSEUM OF ICE CREAM’s year-round Sprinkle Party Bundle is also receiving a limited-time Betty Crocker makeover for October. Guests can purchase the bundle as an add-on to their museum visit and receive birthday-themed sprinkles, a sundae treat and a special “crown magic” celebration moment.

During October, the bundle will also include a co-branded Betty Crocker birthday crown and button, giving guests additional ways to participate in the 105th birthday celebration.

There will also be a special opportunity for one October birthday guest. The first visitor checking in at MUSEUM OF ICE CREAM Las Vegas with a verified October 21 birthday will receive a Betty Crocker Cake Slice Purse from the brand’s Betty Ate collection. The item has previously sold out, making the birthday giveaway a notable addition to the celebration.

Special Cake-Crafting Event in New York City

The birthday collaboration will feature special one-day events in New York City and Las Vegas.

On Wednesday, October 14, two-time James Beard Award-winning chef Christina Tosi will join Betty Crocker and MUSEUM OF ICE CREAM in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood for an intimate Cake Crafting workshop.

The experience will combine Betty Crocker’s nostalgic approach to homemade baking with MUSEUM OF ICE CREAM’s colorful and imaginative atmosphere. Participants will learn creative cake-decorating techniques, including sprinkle embroidery and decorative stenciling.

The workshop will focus on transforming a vanilla-frosted quarter-sheet cake into a personalized dessert. The experience is designed to give participants an opportunity to experiment with decoration while celebrating the creative side of baking.

Fans can also follow @museumoficecream and @bettycrocker on social media for an opportunity to win tickets to the workshop.

Betty’s Birthday Bash in Las Vegas

The celebration will reach another highlight on Betty Crocker’s official birthday, Wednesday, October 21, when MUSEUM OF ICE CREAM Las Vegas hosts Betty’s Birthday Bash.

The event will take place inside the museum’s Little Pink Chapel, creating a colorful setting for a birthday celebration centered around cake, ice cream and nostalgic party traditions.

Guests can expect birthday games, treats, surprise giveaways and other interactive activities designed to encourage playful participation. The event reflects the broader theme of the collaboration by bringing familiar birthday traditions into an immersive environment.

“Celebration is one of the most powerful ways people connect, and cake and ice cream have always been at the center of those moments,” said Manish Vora, Co-Founder and CEO of Museum of Ice Cream. “Betty Crocker has helped generations turn ordinary days into something worth celebrating. Together, we’re transforming that shared ritual into an experience guests can step inside, taste and enjoy together at every Museum of Ice Cream location across the United States.”

A New Chapter in Betty Crocker’s 105-Year Story

The MUSEUM OF ICE CREAM collaboration is part of Betty Crocker’s broader “Bettier Than Ever” era, which focuses on finding new ways for consumers to engage with the brand beyond traditional baking.

In recent years, Betty Crocker has expanded its cultural presence through products, merchandise and community experiences. The brand’s Betty Ate Collection, which includes statement-making cake slice handbags, has generated significant attention, while Super Moist merchandise and events such as Cake Picnic have offered consumers new ways to interact with the brand.

The latest collaboration continues that strategy by transforming Betty Crocker’s familiar connection to birthday cakes into an experience that combines food, entertainment, creativity and social interaction.

Betty Crocker’s history dates back to 1921, when a Gold Medal Flour promotion generated hundreds of letters from home cooks seeking reliable baking advice. The brand created Betty Crocker as a trusted and approachable voice to respond to those consumers.

Over the following decades, Betty Crocker became a familiar name across cookbooks, radio, television and, eventually, digital platforms. Throughout its history, the brand has remained closely connected to home baking and the role that food can play in family celebrations and everyday occasions.

After more than a century, the brand is using its 105th birthday to connect that history with a new generation of consumers. The partnership with MUSEUM OF ICE CREAM provides a setting where visitors can experience Betty Crocker through food, visual installations, hands-on activities and entertainment.

By bringing cake and ice cream together across multiple U.S. locations, Betty Crocker’s 105th birthday celebration highlights the enduring role of familiar desserts in special occasions while giving consumers new ways to experience the brand.

For Betty Crocker, the milestone ultimately comes back to a simple birthday tradition: gathering people together around something sweet. This time, however, the celebration extends beyond the kitchen and into an immersive world of cake, ice cream, creativity and play.
