Nestlé Boosts Food Access Support, Partners with GFN

“Nestlé and GFN Strengthen Collaboration to Fight Hunger

Nestlé and The Global FoodBanking Network (GFN) have signed an MOU to bolster their partnership in addressing food insecurity and promoting environmental sustainability. This initiative aims to enhance access to food and reduce waste along the supply chain.

Nina Kruchten, Nestlé’s Head of Corporate Giving and Community Engagement, emphasized the company’s commitment to combating food insecurity through various initiatives, including product donations and shared meal programs. Nestlé’s collaboration with GFN’s network of food banks aims to further this mission, with an average of 5.2 million kilograms of product donations annually.

Ignacio Gavilán, Senior Director of Food Systems Partnerships at GFN, highlighted the pivotal role of food banks in responding to hunger while minimizing food loss and waste. He expressed pride in partnering with Nestlé to continue nourishing communities together.

This partnership builds on Nestlé’s ongoing efforts to increase food access worldwide. In 2023 alone, Nestlé donated CHF 135.4 million worth of products globally, supporting various communities in need.

Examples of Nestlé’s contributions include collaborating with Foodbank Australia and New Zealand to distribute meal kits, supporting communities in Malaysia through partnerships with local organizations, and aiding flood-affected regions in Greece.

The MOU aims to strengthen collaboration between Nestlé entities and GFN food bank members, ensuring effective support to communities in need. Nestlé and GFN reaffirm their commitment to working together to tackle hunger on a global scale.”
