Nestlé’s Back-to-School Initiative Broadens, Aiding 2,600 Underprivileged Students Across the Country

Nestlé Malaysia Redoubles Efforts to Support Underprivileged Students

Nestlé Malaysia is reaffirming its commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of Malaysians in need with its annual Back-to-School initiative. This season, the company is set to assist 2,600 underserved primary school students nationwide as they prepare for the upcoming academic year in 2024. With the coordinated efforts of 50 Nestlé Cares and Empire Project Volunteers, the initiative has prepared 2,600 packs of school essentials valued at RM800,000. These packs include vital supplies such as bags, uniforms, shoes, socks, and stationery.

The initiative specifically targets children from less privileged backgrounds, including orphans, single-parent households, prison inmates’ children, those with special needs, and some Orang Asli communities. Additionally, 1,500 households will receive Nestlé goodie bags containing nutritious products like Nestlé EVERYDAY, NESTUM, and MILO Activ-Go.

Expanding its reach to East Malaysia, Nestlé Malaysia has also provided sports equipment to 10 schools in Sabah and Sarawak, benefiting approximately 500 children. This move aims to encourage physical activity and the practice of sports among these students. Furthermore, Nestlé Malaysia collaborated with Jabatan Penjara Pusat Kota Kinabalu to distribute school bags, along with food and beverage products, to nearly 200 children of inmates and surrounding B40 communities in Sabah.

Juan Aranols, Chief Executive Officer of Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting those in need, stating, “Our annual Nestlé Cares Back-to-School initiative aligns with our goal to unlock opportunities for youth.” Over the past decade, nearly 10,000 Malaysian students have received support through this program. Aranols expressed excitement about expanding the initiative’s reach even further this year, aiming to make a positive difference for many more children in the future.

The Nestlé Cares Back-to-School initiative is just one of many ways Nestlé creates a meaningful impact in Malaysians’ lives while fostering a culture of volunteerism among employees. Recently, the company collaborated with the Malaysian Red Crescent Society to aid flood relief efforts by delivering essential supplies to affected communities.

Nestlé’s commitment to community enrichment extends beyond education support initiatives. The company also supports local farming communities and entrepreneurs, provides nutrition education, and leads environmental sustainability programs. In 2023 alone, Nestlé Malaysia contributed over RM13 million to community support initiatives, building upon its ongoing efforts in previous years.
