Philadelphia Launches First-Ever Sweet Heat Cream Cheese in the U.S. with Mike’s Hot Honey
As cooler temperatures arrive, Philadelphia is bringing bold flavor to the cream cheese aisle with the launch of Philadelphia Mike’s Hot Honey Whipped Cream Cheese, a new spread created in collaboration with America’s original and leading hot honey brand, Mike’s Hot Honey.
The new product combines the familiar creaminess of Philadelphia whipped cream cheese with the signature sweet-and-spicy flavor of Mike’s Hot Honey. Designed to add a flavorful twist to everyday favorites, the new spread can be enjoyed on bagels, paired with charcuterie, incorporated into breakfast sandwiches, or even used as a topping for pizza.
Philadelphia Mike’s Hot Honey Whipped Cream Cheese is available exclusively at Walmart beginning now. The product is expected to reach additional retailers starting in January 2027, giving consumers more opportunities to experience the combination that has been part of the hot honey story for more than a decade.
Hot Honey Moves Into the Mainstream
Hot honey has developed from an emerging food trend into an established flavor across restaurants, foodservice menus and consumer products. Since Mike’s Hot Honey entered the market in 2010, the sweet-and-spicy condiment has continued to gain recognition among consumers looking for new ways to add complexity to familiar foods.
Philadelphia has played an important role in that journey. Mike Kurtz, founder of Mike’s Hot Honey, began experimenting with the combination years ago, using Philadelphia cream cheese to demonstrate how the brand’s honey could work with a creamy, rich base.
That early pairing has now evolved into an official collaboration between the two brands.
“Philadelphia has been part of the Mike’s Hot Honey story since the early days,” said Mike Kurtz, founder of Mike’s Hot Honey. “When I was first building the brand, I used to sample our hot honey on bricks of Philadelphia cream cheese to show people just how delicious and versatile the combination could be. To now bring that pairing to life in a partnership with Philadelphia feels like a full-circle moment.”
According to the brands, nearly half of consumers have tried hot honey, with millennials and Gen Z helping drive interest in the flavor. At the same time, sweet-and-spicy flavor combinations have experienced significant growth on restaurant menus, increasing nearly 230% over the past four years.
The new Philadelphia offering builds on that momentum by bringing the flavor combination into a familiar refrigerated category.
A Creamy Take on Sweet Heat
Philadelphia Mike’s Hot Honey Whipped Cream Cheese represents the brand’s first sweet heat cream cheese flavor introduced in the United States. The product combines Philadelphia’s light and fluffy whipped cream cheese with Mike’s Hot Honey’s signature blend to create a spread that balances sweetness, creaminess and heat.
Made with real milk and cream, the new cream cheese contains no artificial preservatives, artificial flavors or artificial dyes. Its whipped texture makes it suitable for spreading while also giving consumers flexibility to use it in snacks, meals and recipes.
Mike Kurtz said the two companies worked closely to achieve the desired balance between the creamy base and hot honey flavor.
“Together, we worked closely to get the balance of creamy, sweet heat just right, creating a schmear ready for everything from breakfast sandwiches to pizza — or straight from the tub,” Kurtz said.
The versatility of the product is a central part of the launch. While cream cheese is traditionally associated with bagels and breakfast, the new flavor is positioned as an ingredient that can be used across multiple eating occasions.
Consumers can spread it on toast or bagels, use it as a dip for savory snacks, add it to sandwiches, or pair it with pizza and other foods that benefit from a combination of sweet, spicy and creamy flavors.

Philadelphia Expands Its Flavor Portfolio
The hot honey collaboration is not the only flavor innovation arriving from Philadelphia this season. The brand is also introducing two additional varieties designed around familiar seasonal and indulgent flavor profiles.
Philadelphia Cranberry Orange Cream Cheese is being launched as a limited-time seasonal offering, combining the tartness of cranberry with the citrus character of orange. Meanwhile, Philadelphia Salted Caramel Cream Cheese is joining the permanent portfolio, giving consumers another option built around the increasingly popular combination of sweet and salty flavors.
Both products are intended to provide new ways for consumers to use cream cheese beyond traditional applications.
Philadelphia says familiar flavors continue to influence purchasing and consumption decisions, with 85% of consumers indicating that familiarity plays a role in what they choose to eat and drink. Cranberry Orange and Salted Caramel build on that familiarity while providing new possibilities for baking, spreading and snacking.
The flavors can be incorporated into recipes such as cinnamon rolls and cookies or paired with salty snacks including pretzels. They can also be enjoyed as spreads or used to add additional flavor to homemade desserts and breakfast foods.
Accelerating Cream Cheese Innovation
Philadelphia has been expanding its flavor lineup as it seeks to respond to changing consumer tastes and interest in new flavor combinations. According to the brand, 10 new flavors have joined its lineup during the past two years.
“Philadelphia has set the cream cheese standard for over 150 years, and staying at the forefront means continuing to evolve with the way people eat and the flavors they crave,” said Maddy Zingle, Vice President of Marketing at Philadelphia Cream Cheese.
“Hot Honey, Cranberry Orange and Salted Caramel are proof points in how we’re accelerating flavor innovation, with 10 new flavors joining our lineup in the last two years. We’re building on our legacy by bringing fresh energy, bold flavors and new possibilities to the cream cheese category.”
The approach reflects a broader shift in the food industry toward familiar products with unexpected flavor combinations. By extending cream cheese into sweet heat, seasonal fruit and dessert-inspired profiles, Philadelphia is giving consumers more options for incorporating the product into different meals and occasions.
Where Consumers Can Find the New Flavors
Philadelphia Mike’s Hot Honey Whipped Cream Cheese is available now exclusively at Walmart. Distribution is scheduled to expand to additional retailers beginning in January 2027.
Philadelphia Cranberry Orange and Philadelphia Salted Caramel Cream Cheese are available at major retailers nationwide, giving consumers immediate access to the two additional new flavors.
The launch will also include limited opportunities for consumers to sample the hot honey cream cheese in prepared food applications. For a limited time, customers near Pedaler’s Pub in Bentonville, Arkansas, and Pizza One in Wayne, New Jersey, can visit the participating locations to try limited-edition menu items featuring Philadelphia Mike’s Hot Honey Whipped Cream Cheese.
The collaboration brings together two recognizable food brands around a flavor combination that has steadily moved into the mainstream. With hot honey continuing to attract consumer attention and Philadelphia expanding its portfolio of sweet, savory and sweet-heat offerings, the new whipped cream cheese provides another way for shoppers to experiment with familiar foods.
From a classic bagel to a breakfast sandwich, charcuterie board or slice of pizza, Philadelphia Mike’s Hot Honey Whipped Cream Cheese gives consumers a convenient way to add creamy texture and a touch of heat to everyday eating occasions.
