Bayer Launches Nationwide Science Delivers Tour to Bring Science Directly to Communities

Amid growing concerns about misinformation surrounding health, medicine and scientific research, Bayer has launched a nationwide tour of its Science Delivers mobile interactive experience. The initiative is designed to bring science directly into communities and encourage Americans to explore how scientific research and innovation influence their everyday lives.

The traveling experience comes at a time when public confidence in scientific information faces increasing challenges. Misinformation can spread rapidly through social media, online platforms and other digital channels, making it more difficult for people to distinguish evidence-based information from misleading or inaccurate claims.

According to a March 2026 Harris Poll commissioned by Bayer, which surveyed 2,023 adults across the United States for the report Science Under Siege: The Battle Between Viral Misinformation and Shared Belief in the Value of Science, 82% of respondents said they were concerned about the impact of health and science misinformation on their own wellbeing and that of their families.

Against this backdrop, Bayer’s Science Delivers tour aims to create opportunities for direct engagement, conversation and learning. Rather than relying solely on traditional educational formats, the initiative uses an interactive mobile display to demonstrate the tangible ways scientific discovery has contributed to improvements in healthcare, agriculture, medicine and society.

Science Delivers Brings Interactive Learning to Communities

The nationwide tour will travel to communities, universities and local events in states and regions including California, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Missouri, New York, New Jersey and Washington, D.C., with additional locations expected to be included.

The tour is intended to connect with a broad cross-section of the American public. Scientists, farmers, researchers, students, educators and community members will have opportunities to participate in discussions focused on scientific innovation and its role in addressing some of society’s most important challenges.

Topics will include health innovation, agricultural science and the future of scientific discovery. By bringing these conversations outside traditional laboratories, universities and research facilities, Bayer hopes to make complex scientific topics more accessible and relevant to everyday audiences.

The mobile experience is particularly focused on demonstrating that science is not an abstract concept confined to research institutions. Scientific discoveries influence the food people eat, the medicines they rely on, the technologies they use and the agricultural systems that help supply communities.

Interactive Activities Highlight Scientific Progress

At each tour stop, visitors can explore a custom-built mobile display featuring interactive, evidence-based activities. These experiences are designed to illustrate how scientific research has contributed to major advances across healthcare, agriculture, medicine and other areas.

The activities provide visitors with an opportunity to engage with scientific concepts in a more accessible and hands-on format. The goal is to encourage curiosity and help people understand the connection between research and the products, services and treatments they encounter in their daily lives.

Visitors will also be invited to share their own experiences with science by creating either a physical or digital postcard as part of the broader national educational campaign.

These personal contributions are becoming part of a growing national collection highlighting the ways scientific progress has touched people’s lives. As of September 2026, the campaign’s gallery included more than 700 postcards, offering examples of how individuals connect scientific discovery with personal experiences.

The collection is intended to demonstrate that science is not simply about major laboratory breakthroughs. It can also be reflected in everyday experiences, from advances in healthcare and treatments to agricultural technologies and products that improve quality of life.

Bayer Leaders Emphasize the Importance of Scientific Trust

Matthias Berninger, Executive Vice President and Head of Public Affairs, Sustainability and Safety at Bayer, emphasized the broad influence of science and the importance of protecting public trust in research.

“Science shapes the crops that feed us, the medicines that treat disease, and the communities where we live and work,” Berninger said. He added that misinformation can threaten the years of research and development required to create new scientific breakthroughs.

According to Berninger, the nationwide tour is intended to meet Americans in the places where they live, work and gather, while encouraging curiosity and supporting continued innovation.

Dr. Yesmean Wahdan, Senior Vice President and Head of Medical Affairs for the United States and North America at Bayer, highlighted the importance of evidence-based information in healthcare decision-making.

She noted that trust in scientific evidence plays an important role in moving new treatments from clinical trials to the patients who need them. This applies across areas such as cardiovascular care, women’s health and other fields of medicine.

“When people have access to evidence-based information they understand and trust, they make better decisions for themselves and their families,” Wahdan said.

The tour therefore seeks not only to communicate scientific information but also to help people develop greater confidence in evaluating evidence and understanding how research translates into real-world health outcomes.

Connecting Scientific Research With Everyday Life

Rachel Koontz, Senior Vice President of Research and Development for Global Self Care at Bayer, pointed to another important aspect of the initiative: helping consumers understand the scientific work behind products they encounter regularly.

From vitamins and pain relievers to allergy treatments available at pharmacies, many everyday healthcare products are supported by years of research, testing and development.

Koontz said consumers deserve to understand and trust the scientific processes behind these products. The Science Delivers tour provides an opportunity to narrow the perceived distance between scientific laboratories and everyday experiences.

By presenting scientific information in an engaging and accessible format, the initiative aims to give people reliable information that can help them navigate an increasingly crowded information environment.

Part of a Broader Science Delivers Campaign

The nationwide mobile tour is part of Bayer’s larger Science Delivers campaign, which was launched in 2025. The campaign encourages Americans to recognize and champion the ways science has improved their lives while promoting greater awareness of misinformation.

A central objective of the initiative is to encourage people to think critically about scientific claims and recognize the value of reliable evidence. It also seeks to create a stronger environment for continued research and innovation.

The campaign’s growing postcard gallery provides a human perspective on scientific progress, allowing individuals to share personal stories about how science has affected their health, work, families or communities.

Building Greater Confidence in Science

As misinformation continues to compete with credible scientific information, initiatives that encourage public engagement with evidence may play an increasingly important role in strengthening scientific literacy.

Bayer’s nationwide Science Delivers tour represents an effort to take that conversation directly to the public. Through interactive demonstrations, community discussions and personal stories, the company is seeking to show how scientific progress is connected to real-world experiences.

By traveling to universities, community events and other public venues, the initiative aims to make science more approachable while encouraging Americans to ask questions, explore evidence and better understand the discoveries that influence their lives.

Ultimately, the Science Delivers campaign seeks to reinforce a simple message: scientific research is not distant from everyday life. From the crops grown on farms to the medicines available in pharmacies, science continues to shape the health, food systems and communities of the future.
