Dickey’s Barbecue Launches Mobile Games to Engage the Next Generation of Fans
Dickey’s Barbecue Pit is giving its loyal customers another reason to open its mobile app. With nearly 30% of all online orders now being placed through the Dickey’s mobile app, the world’s largest barbecue concept is expanding its digital engagement strategy with the launch of three interactive mobile games designed exclusively for Big Yellow Cup Rewards members.
The new gaming experience allows members to earn loyalty points while having fun inside the Dickey’s app. By combining entertainment, rewards and digital ordering, the initiative is designed to make the brand’s loyalty program more engaging while encouraging customers to return to the app regularly.
The games are available now and were custom developed in collaboration with the Spark Adriatic team. Rather than offering the same challenge every day, Dickey’s has introduced three different mini games that are randomized throughout the week. This approach gives members a fresh activity to discover while creating an additional incentive to check the app on a daily basis.
Three Interactive Games Bring Barbecue Fun to the App
Big Yellow Cup Rewards members can participate in one of three interactive games. Each game features a different style of play and incorporates recognizable elements of the Dickey’s Barbecue Pit brand.
The Big Yellow Cup Flip Challenge puts players’ timing and coordination to the test. Participants attempt to flip Dickey’s iconic Big Yellow Cup and land it upright before the clock runs out. The simple concept is designed to be quick and easy to play while adding a playful twist to one of the brand’s most recognizable products.
The second option is Memory, a classic matching game featuring Dickey’s-themed cards. Players must identify and match pairs before time expires. The challenge combines concentration and speed, giving members a familiar game format with a barbecue-inspired theme.
The third game, Catcher, takes a more food-focused approach. Players build the perfect barbecue sandwich by catching falling ingredients within the allotted time. The game connects directly to Dickey’s menu and barbecue identity while providing another fast-paced challenge for app users.
One of the three games will be selected at random for members each day, ensuring that the experience changes regularly.
How the Weekly Challenge Works
Accessing the games is designed to be straightforward. Big Yellow Cup Rewards members can open the Dickey’s mobile app and tap the Weekly Challenge option from either the Home tab or the Rewards tab.
Members can play one game each day, with the available challenge randomized daily. This means customers have multiple opportunities throughout the week to interact with the loyalty program beyond simply placing an order.

Dickey’s has also structured the program so that every player receives loyalty points. Members can earn points even when they do not successfully complete a game, making participation rewarding regardless of the outcome.
Players who successfully complete all three weekly challenges can earn up to 30 loyalty points each week through the gaming experience. Those points can then contribute to the broader rewards members receive through the Big Yellow Cup Rewards program.
Expanding the Big Yellow Cup Rewards Experience
The new games build on Dickey’s existing loyalty program, which gives members opportunities to earn points through purchases and other forms of engagement.
Big Yellow Cup Rewards members earn 10 points for every dollar spent, making the program an important part of Dickey’s digital customer experience. Purchases made through the Dickey’s mobile app are automatically converted into loyalty points, giving customers an easy way to earn rewards when ordering directly.
Customers making purchases in Dickey’s restaurants can also receive points by scanning their personalized QR code from the app at checkout. Alternatively, members can enter their receipt information in the app within seven days of the purchase.
The brand also provides another opportunity to earn points through customer feedback. Guests can complete the survey included on their receipt and submit the required information through the Rewards section of the app.
Together, these features create multiple ways for customers to interact with the Dickey’s loyalty program, whether they are ordering food, visiting a restaurant, providing feedback or simply playing a game.
Digital Engagement Becomes a Bigger Part of the Customer Experience
The launch comes as mobile ordering continues to represent a significant portion of Dickey’s digital business. With nearly three out of every 10 online orders now being placed through the company’s mobile app, the platform has become an important channel for connecting customers with the brand.
The introduction of mobile games gives Dickey’s another way to bring customers into the app even when they are not immediately planning to place an order. By adding an entertainment component to the loyalty experience, the company is seeking to make the app more than just a digital ordering platform.
Laura Rea Dickey, CEO of Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc., said the company is continually looking for ways to make the barbecue experience more rewarding for customers.
“At Dickey’s, we’re always looking for new ways to make every barbecue experience more rewarding,” Dickey said. She added that Big Yellow Cup Rewards members are among the brand’s most loyal guests and that the games provide an additional reason for them to open the app, interact with Dickey’s and earn rewards that can be used toward future barbecue meals.
Why Order Through the Dickey’s App?
For customers who regularly order from Dickey’s, using the company’s mobile app provides several advantages. Members can earn loyalty points through eligible purchases while gaining access to exclusive offers, personalized perks and freebies.
Direct ordering through the Dickey’s app also provides a streamlined way to participate in the rewards program. Customers can accumulate points on their purchases while avoiding some of the additional costs and fees that may be associated with ordering through third-party delivery platforms.
The app therefore serves as a central hub for Dickey’s digital loyalty experience. Customers can place orders, track rewards, access offers, submit receipt information and now participate in interactive games from one platform.
A New Reason to Keep Tapping In
The three new games add a lighthearted element to Dickey’s relationship with its customers. Instead of limiting loyalty engagement to transactions, the brand is using mobile gaming to create additional touchpoints between visits.
Members can play Big Yellow Cup Flip Challenge, Memory or Catcher, with one game available each day. Since the challenges are randomized, customers have a reason to return to the app throughout the week to see which game is available.
For Dickey’s, the strategy represents a broader effort to connect its physical restaurant experience with its growing digital presence. For customers, the program offers another simple way to collect points while engaging with the brand.
As mobile ordering continues to grow, Dickey’s new gaming initiative demonstrates how restaurant loyalty programs are evolving beyond traditional purchase-based rewards. By blending food, entertainment and digital engagement, the barbecue brand is giving Big Yellow Cup Rewards members another reason to make the Dickey’s app part of their regular routine.
